"Mile markers should be the minimum requirement" (about: 2013)

COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 5 This is a nice marathon, starts in the canyon. Organization was done well for the most part. However, one of the minimum requirements for a marathon is mile markers. They have to be at every mile, not at mile one and then the next one at mile 9. That is as basic as a starting line, aid stations, and a finish line. I completed my 65th marathon last weekend, and I have approached all 65 of them with a pace band and a time goal. How do you track your progress without mile markers? Come on guys.

"A diamond in the rough...." (about: 2012)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 Ran the Half Marathon. What a wonderful race course. First 7-8 miles were in a canyon, so much too look at, the miles flew by. Great organization, lots of buses to get you to the starting line, bonfires at the starting area to keep runner's warm, water stops every two miles, oranges and banana's around mile 9, nice finish line area. The last 3 miles were tough running on cement (vs. asphalt) but other than that, great race. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for that small town, beautiful scenery race.

"One of the better races in the area!" (about: 2011)

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 This was a great race! The course is very nice for the most part, with the first 8 or so miles being run in the canyon. The only part of the course that was a little boring/ugly was around miles 16-18 and 23-24 I think, where you're just running through residential areas. There weren't a lot of spectators, but the ones that were out were fantastic. The volunteers were all friendly and helpful. It would've been nice if there was a little more offered at the finish line, but that's not too big a deal to me. For being such a small race, and being the inaugural marathon this year, it was organized very well in my opinion. |
