TOYOTA PRIUS MIAMI TROPICAL MARATHON AND HALF-MARATHON REGISTRATION OPENS
RACE DIRECTOR LOOKS TO REACH PARTICIPATION OF 15,000 FOR JANUARY 30, 2005
RACES WHILE ALSO LOOKING FORWARD TO VIEWING THE 2004 RACE ON NBC6 THIS
WEEKEND.
MIAMI, FL (February 17, 2004) - Toyota Prius Miami Tropical Marathon and
Half Marathon opens registration enroute to the largest field of the young
races' history. The Toyota Prius Miami Tropical Marathon and Half-Marathon
look to reach a capacity of 15,000 for the 3rd year race taking place on
January 30, 2005. The new date is a result of a high level summit meeting
with City and County officials looking towards the future. "In 2007 the
Super Bowl will take place in South Florida and the date for that would
have conflicted with the marathon. We decided that we would make the
change now so that we can start up a tradition of having the race the week
before the big game", said race director Robert Pozo. Starting today
through March 31, all registrants taking advantage of the "early bird"
discounted rate will also receive a free "Marathon or Half-Marathon
In-Training" t-shirt. The registrants will be shipped their shirts in
early April. "This is a way to reward the participants who believe in us
and in the race and also like to sign up early to get the discount", said

While looking to put on a great race weekend in 2005, PR Racing, Inc.
announces the replay of the 2004 race this weekend February 21 on NBC 6 at
3:00PM. "Local NBC affiliate NBC 6 along with Telemundo have really
stepped it up a notch. They said that they wanted to come in big and grow
with the race in years to come and whet better than playing the 1-hour race
program on prime time Saturday afternoon? That is stepping up to the
plate", said Frankie Ruiz, course director. While NBC will play the
complete 1-hour race program at 3PM Saturday February 21, it's sister
station Telemundo 51 broadcast a full half-hour show Sunday the 14th to the
hispanic counterpart in the US and abroad. With all 50 states and 44
foreign countries represented world international coverage was made easy
with media representatives from Mexico, Ecuador, Brazil and Costa Rica,
among others at the race.
For 2005 the 26.2 mile flat marathon course will showcase the most scenic
views of Miami, Miami Beach, Brickell, and Coconut Grove while the 13.1
mile course showcases Miami and Miami Beach. For more information call
