                  Grandma's Marathon Seeking Nominations 
                   for Rudy Perpich Public Service Award


Duluth, Minn.: Road closures, police security, equipment support and road 
repairs on the race course—all of these and many more have been crucial to 
the success of the annual running of Grandma's Marathon, and would not be 
possible without the support of the public sector. For this reason, 
Grandma's Marathon has created the Rudy Perpich Public Service Award, named 
after the late Minnesota governor who was a large supporter of the annual 
event.

"Since day one of Grandma's Marathon, there have literally been thousands 
of public servants who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to 
ensure the success and continuation of our events," says Scott Keenan, 
executive director of Grandma's Marathon. "The creation of this award is 
long overdue, but we are excited to introduce it during our 30th 
anniversary celebration and to make it an annual tradition from here on 
out."

Grandma's Marathon is currently seeking nominations from the public for the 
2006 award. A nominee must be a current or former (retired or deceased) 
public employee or elected official who has exhibited dedication to 
Grandma's Marathon by contributing his/her time, energy and service to the 
annual running of the event.

The nomination application is available on the Grandma's Marathon web site, 
www.grandmasmarathon.com, or by calling marathon headquarters at 
(218) 727-0947. The deadline for nominations is 
April 21, 2006. Up to three individuals will be chosen to receive the award.

An award ceremony breakfast is scheduled for Thursday, June 15 at 7:00 a.m. 
in the Great Hall Ballroom at the Radisson Hotel in Duluth (505 W. Superior 
Street). Ticket information will be available on the Grandma's Marathon web 
site in the near future.
