MEDTRONIC TC 10 MILE REGISTRATION OPENS JULY 7
New conversion to online only registration
(Minneapolis, MN) - Registration for the popular Medtronic TC 10 Mile, also
known as "The Shortcut to the Capitol," begins this Friday, July 7 at 8:00
am. Unlike previous years, registration will be available online only.
Registration for the race, which is part of the Medtronic Twin Cities
Marathon weekend of events this September 29 - October 1, is being accepted
via a ten-day lottery, held July 7-16.
All interested runners must register for the lottery online at the
Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon's official website: www.mtcmarathon.org.
Registrants should then select "TC 10 Mile" on the left-hand side of the
site, select registration, and follow the directions given on the website.
Registration will close at 10 pm on July 16.
Due to the popularity of the event, TCM, Inc. officials have added 500
entries to the October 1 race, bringing the field to 5,000. Runners will
be selected through a random lottery. Only those entries selected in the
lottery will be charged the entry fee, and only online registrants will be
accepted for the lottery. No mail-in or faxed entries will be accepted.
Lottery results will be available on the marathon website July 19. All
registrants will be notified by email of the lottery results and those
selected will also receive a confirmation postcard by mail. Runners are
asked not to contact the marathon office by phone. All questions should be
sent by email to: .
TC 10 registrants who do not gain entry to the race via the lottery will
have a second opportunity to participate through the MTCM Community
Partners fundraising program. A limited number of entries will be available
on a first-come, first-serve basis starting Friday July 21st. For more
information on the Fundraiser Entry Program, visit mtcmarathon.org.
As in previous years, the Running Room will offer the official TC 10
training class for interested runners. For more information, visit
www.runningroom.com.
In order to avoid construction near the start line on Portland Avenue and
to help control congestion, Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon will continue to
have three start corrals for the TC 10. Assignments to these start corrals
are based on times submitted by runners on their registration form. If no
time is posted, the runner will be assigned to corral #3. The ChampionChip
is used to time the race, so all net times will be recorded regardless of
the starting corral.
The 2006 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon weekend will take place Sept. 29 -
Oct. 1, 2006. The three-day weekend celebration of fitness includes a 5K
run/walk, children's fun runs, pasta dinner, health and fitness expo and
Medtronic TC 10 Mile, in addition to the marathon. The race continues its
16th consecutive year as the designated USATF National Masters Championship
for both men and women and will also host the USATF men's and women's open
Marathon Championships. Other Major sponsors include Capella University
and ING. Twin Cities Marathon, Inc. is a non-profit organization that
directs race weekend as a community service for the Minneapolis/St. Paul
area. Visit www.mtcmarathon.org for more information.
