I really enjoyed this marathon. The packet pickup at the expo was quick, everything marathon morning (buses, baggage check, TONS of porta-potties, etc.) was also very smooth.
My only complaint is the corral assignments. This was my first marathon and I estimated a 4:10 finish on my registration form. I wound up in the last corral and it took me a full 10 minutes to get to the start line. I finished in 3:59 after dodging walkers for miles and miles - I ran quite a bit on the grass next to the road just to get around them. Even people 3 or more corrals ahead of me started the race by walking! I have nothing against walkers, but they really need to be in the VERY back. I never saw instructions from the organizers for walkers to (a) start in the last corral and (b) not walk 4 abreast. With so many charity walkers, they really need to address this issue specifically in the future.

This was a very enjoyable race. There is no way to become bored running through all 5 theme parks. Disney World did an outstanding job. I was impressed by the race organization and the volunteers, not only the quality but the quantity. This is a great vacation race and the weather was great for running. The Mickey Mouse medal is worth the entry fee. Thanks Disney World and volunteers. We stayed several extra days to enjoy the sights.

"Excellent race!!!" (about: 2003)

This was my first half marathon experience....I had such a wonderful time!! I ran with the Train to End Stroke team, and it was so inspiring to watch all of the different types of people running from the Diabetes team, the Leukemia Society, and so many more. The people were so friendly along the way....the volunteers and spectators were so encouraging. The experience was quite exhilarating! The Donald Duck medallion is definitely worth it too :) I would highly recommend this race for anyone looking to have a great time, experience positive energy, and be motivated along the way.

I loved the marathon sooo much I came back for the half-both were great. Would love to see even more characters and more fans! More music with the Disney songs-especially while out on the highways.

"Excellent job Disney World and Volunteers" (about: 2003)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

I seriously debated running the 2003 Disney World marathon after reading all the, shall we say, candid 'press' the marathon has received from past participants. The Marathon exceeded my expectations. Disney World did an outstanding job!!!! The Mickey Mouse medal is to run for! Thanks Disney World and volunteers!!!!!

Happy camper in Atlanta

"very happy first marathon experience" (about: 2003)

I had no idea what to expect as it was my first marathon but I thought it was a magical experience. The volunteers were excellent and I would not have made it without the first aid and sports trainers!! The spectators really kept me fired up. And I will have so many wonderful pictures of the characters seen throughout the race. I loved every minute of it, even the painful moments were enjoyable in some way. I would definitely reccomend the Disney marathon, especially for the first timers!

"Much Improved" (about: 2003)

COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 3

I am one of the runners who did the marathon last year and wrote in some negative comments. Because I run for charity I returned to Disney this year. For those of you who read those comments and now think we were just grousing let me say this - this year's marathon was like night and day compared to last year. Disney did a good job responding to all the bad vibes they got from last year's race. This year there were characters and acts to look at along the way, wonderful signs with inspirational quotes or quizzes, and the volunteers were much more on the ball.
Thank you Disney for responding to runners' suggestions and comments and really making this a fun marathon!
