John Berta, 39 of Seattle, won the Bellingham Bay Marathon with a time of 2 hours 49 minutes and 38 seconds to capture his first marathon victory.

   Taengwa Clinches Nedbank Marathon (The Herald)
Sharon Taengwa won the Cape Town Marathon with a time of 2 hours 47 minutes and 8 seconds. George Mafokeng of South Africa made a comeback to win the Nedbank Cape Town City Marathon in 2 hours 14 minutes and 20 seconds.

David Kuhn has been slowly losing his eyesight from being struck by a drunk driver. The 57 year-old put out a call for a guide runner to help him through the Chicago Marathon and more than 100 offers have been returned.

   Ahansal, Stickel Win City of Trees Marathon (Idaho Statesman)
Mohamad Ahansal won the overall title in the City of Trees Marathon with a time of 2 hours 43 minutes and 25 seconds. Amanda Stickel ran to the women's top spot with a time of 3 hours 1 minute and 43 seconds.

Claire Forbes broke the magical three hour barrier for her first marathon at the Standard Chartered Jersey Marathon with a chip time of 2 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds. Joseph Kibunja won the men's marathon with a time of 2 hours 33 minutes and 27 seconds.

   Man Completes Loop of Tahoe Rim Trail in Record 38 1/2 Hours (Tahoe Daily Tribune)
Kilian Jornet of Spain smashed the Lake Tahoe Rim Run Trail record by running the 165 mile trail in 38 hours and 32 minutes. The previous record established in 1995 was 45 hours and 58 minutes.

Simon Tonui outdistanced more than three-thousand runners with a time of 2 hours, 20 minutes and 13 seconds to break the marathon course record at Loch Ness. David Kirkland found him self in second place for the second year in a row.
