Teenage bandits have jumped into the Boston marathon in the past. The numbers are very low as only twenty-eight in 2009 are 18 years of age and another sixty are 19 years of age. Low numbers that seem to speak to the damage that can be done from running extreme distances at such early ages.

   Kristiansen, Moller and Cusack to be honoured in Boston (IAAF)
The careers of three highly decorated runners will be honored one day prior to the 113th Boston Marathon. Ingrid Kristiansen, Lorraine Moller, and Neil Cusack will take part in the B.A.A. 5K. The first B.A.A. Invitational Mile will take place after with Shalane Flanagan headlining the field of elite women.

The Comrades Marathon has pushed back the entry deadline to 6 PM on April 6th. The May 24th marathon had officially closed on March 31st but inquiries have forced organizers to re-open the sign-up process.

   Charleville man wins Cork City Marathon (Irish Examiner)
Michael Herlihy, 28, from Charleville won the annual Cork City Marathon with a time of 2 hours 30 minutes and 36 seconds. The race, which finished on St. Patrick's Street, was used to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society.

John Yoder is headed to Abilene, Kansas on April 11th with one goal in mind. To win the marathon with a time of 2 hours 35 minutes. Yoder will challenge defending champion Gannon White of Colorado who won the 2008 Eisenhower Marathon in 2 hours and 39 minutes.

After making a wrong turn en route to the Lower Potomac River Marathon, Micahel Wardian, 34, arrived 15 minutes late to the start and caught all but the first two runners, going from behind last to third overall in 2:51:22, 12 minutes behind winner Chuck Engle.

The Marine Corps Marathon handed out 1102 early entries into the marathon for any runners who registered for the Run to Register 10K in Quantico Virginia. The marathon has filled to capacity in the previous years.
