Veronica Clemens of New York won the Big Sur International Marathon on her first attempt with a time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 18 seconds.
 
   Castorville's Tapia Is County's First Marathon Winner (The Herald)
Daniel Tapia won the Big Sur International Marathon in his marathon debut with a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 9 seconds.
 
   Monterey County Man Wins Big Sur Marathon (Daily Comet)
Daniel Tapia won the Big Sur International Marathon with a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 9 seconds. The first woman was Veronica Clemens who won with a time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 18 seconds.
 
Blue Ridge Marathon

   Blacksburg Runners Rule Roanoke Marathon (Roanoke Times)
Tim Sykes won the Blue Ridge Marathon with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 16 seconds. Karen Ostergaard won the woman's division with a time of 3 hours 30 minutes and 9 seconds.
 
   Marathon Runners Knew Course Would Be Difficult (The Roanoke Times)
Two mountains did not deter more than three-hundred runners from running the Blue Ridge Marathon on the Parkway. The marathon course ran up Roanoke Mountain and Mill Mountain.

Brian List won the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon with a time of 2 hours 31 minutes and 56 seconds. Cynthia Lauren took home top honors for the women with a time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 2 seoncds.

   Leslie, Edelmann Win Career Firsts At Cox Sports Marathon (Providence Journal)
A pair of 30-year-old engineers took top honors at the Cox Sports Marathon in downtown Providence. Scott Leslie, a telecommunications engineer from Rutland, Mass., established a comfortable lead throughout, and coasted as he secured the men's marathon title with a time of 2:35:45. Jennifer Edelmann, a structural engineer, held off Kate Jarocki to win women's race in 3:01:07.
