Drew Best finished first in the Providence Rhode Island Marathon with a time of 2 hours 35 minutes and 19 seconds. His time was a new course record as he raced past second place finisher Danny Gough of Portsmouth.

The January 17 Houston Marathon, which opens for registration on July 17, will allow four-thousand more registrants which should help eliminate bandit runners, registration scalpers, and disgruntled runners unable to gain entry legally. In addition the total of twenty-two thousand spots will be split between the half-marathon and the marathon.
