Below, all of the pre-race coverage - still as interesting as when we wrote it.

Race Preview / Starter List
We love Boston - who couldn't. With the course record falling in each of the two previous years - and the 2011 race setting the record for the fastest marathon ever run (2:03:02), it seems like it might be tough for Boston to live up to the last two years. But this is Boston and something always happens - what will it be for 2012? We shall see..

The men's race at Boston will feature Geoffrey Mutai who ran the fastest marathon ever at the 2011 Boston Marathon and followed that up by smashing the course record at the New York City Marathon - he is fast. What will he do in 2012? And, will any of the others in the field stand a chance against this man who seems more than invincible?

The women's race sees the return of the first (Caroline Kilel), third (Sharon Cherop) and fourth (Caroline Rotich) finishers from the 2011 race, but no clear favorite for the win.
