		White Rock to feature new half marathon in March (Dallas Morning News) The Dallas White Rock Marathon Corporation has launched a new half-marathon, to be run on March 15th. Registration will open next week, and will cost $55 until Feb. 15th.

Former Executive Director at the YMCA, Greg Walker, founded the event. With his resignation the Board of Directors of the YMCA should have a new director in place within two months and marathon talks will be discussed.

		Registration begins for Grandmas Marathon (Superior Telegram) Registration for the 33rd Grandma's Marathon is underway, online at www.grandmasmarathon.com. The race has reached capacity (9,500 this year) for 14 years running, and last year more than half the sports were filled in 24 hours.

		His spirit rolls - Houston Marathon (Houston Chronicle) Travis Dodson, a 23-year-old Marine who lost both legs to a grenade in Iraq, will compete in the Chevron Houston Wheelchair Half Marathon on Sunday. This will only be Dodson's second race, but he is being coached by Wendy Gumbert-Mendoza, the U.S. national paralympics track coach, who says that Dodson may be capable of qualifying for the 2012 Paralympics and contending for a medal in 2016.

		USA Fit Marathon Offers Change of Pace. (Houston Chronicle) The USA Fit Marathon and Half-Marathon have earned rave revues from many of its participants. The event, which was held as an alternative to the Houston Marathon, was hosted this past Sunday for those runners who did not want to meet the newly enforce six hour time limit of the Houston Marathon

		Josh Cox chases Rock N Roll marathon title, 50K record. (Arizona Central) The monkey on Josh Cox's back has been looming since he ran 2 hours and 13 minutes in only his third marathon. Cox decided that running was definitely important to him. He will attempt to win the Rock N Roll Marathon in Arizona and set the unofficial 50K record.
	The Montana Governor's Cup Marathon

		Governors Cup marathon moving to Billings (Helena Independent Record) The Governor's Cup marathon, which has been run in Helena for the last 35 years, will not be run with the other Governor's Cup events in June. Instead, the marathon, half-marathon, and marathon relay events will be run in September, in partnership with the Montana Marathon in Billings. Opinions are divided on the move in the local running community, but perennial low attendance forced the run's sponsor, Blue Cross Blue Shield, to consider other options.

		Big Sur Marathon selling out (The Californian) The Big Sur Marathon, which also includes a marathon relay, a 21 and 10.6 mile race, is on pace to sell out within one month. The April 26th marathon is approaching seventy percent full and there does not seem to be any slowing down in registration despite the economic downturn.

Margaret Okayo, who won the London Marathon in 2006, has a personal best of 2 hours 20 minutes and 43 seconds and is the clear favorite to claim the womens title.

		Dinkesa Eyes Amman XC and a Spring Marathon Debut (IAAF) Abebe Dinkesa of Ethiopia surprised most observers with his 3-second cross country victory in Saturdays Great Edinburgh International, and hopes his win will lead him to a successful spring marathon season. A persistent Achilles tendon problem had kept Dinkesa far from the winners' podium for the last two years, but this victory signalled his return to top form.
	Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon

		Runner chases marathon title, 50K record in P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon (The Arizona Republic) Josh Cox, who ran his first marathon in 1999 at the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in San Diego, and was a contestant on The Bachelorette in 2005, will try to win the P.F. Chang's Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon on Sunday. He will then run 5 more miles on Arizona State's track, to try and beat the unofficial world record in the 50K, 2:43:38. The record has stood since 1988.

		Racing to lose, in the Houston Marathon (Houston Chronicle) Two Houstonians, Norman Langwell of Huntsville and Marilyn Cook of Tomball, decided separately to begin running to lose weight, and between them have now lost over 300 pounds. For Langwell, the Houston Marathon will be his eighth full marathon, and Cook, running in the Aramco Services Company Half-Marathon, will be running her third half-marathon.
