Askale Tafa Magarsa will return to the Dubai Marathon. With her sights set on regaining her crown after a third place finish last year, she has improved her personal best time to 2 hours, 21 minutes and 23 second.

   Running legend Rodgers among 1,900-plus entrants at Mississippi Blues Marathon (Clarion Ledger)
Bill Rodgers will toe the line with over 2000 runners for the Mississippi Blues Marathon on January third. The sixty-one year old will join other runners from ten countries and over forty states.

Gary Allen of Maine finished his fifth Boston Marathon and won. He was alone of course. For the past five years he has started in the cold darkness at six am and conquers the course as he has on New Years Day for the past five years.

   Xiamen Marathon boasts perpetual pace, scenic course (China View)
Kenyan Mugo Samuel Muturi surged late in the Xiamen Marathon to take the title and set personal best on his way to the course record with a winning time of 2 hours 8 minutes and 51 seconds.

   Little Rock Marathon Running on Empty (Arkansas Matters)
The Little Rock Marathon will host its seventh year of running this year and due to the economic crisis in the country, race director Geneva Hampton has lost some sponsorship dollars. In just seven short years the race has grown about twelve percent per year. This year may be the exception.

   Neways Maui Paradise Marathon (The Maui News)
The Neways Maui Paradise Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k and Keiki runs are running the inaugural races on January 11th 2008. Kalama Park in Kihei will be the host for the running expo at the Wailea Marriott beginning on January 10th.

   Lyngkhoi, Shastri win Indian Open marathon (Indian Express)
What should have been a flat course and a great test for the 2010 Commonwealth Games left somewhat slower times during the New Delhi Indian Open Marathon. 2 hours 17 minute and 58 seconds won the mens marathon race while the women's marathon race was won with a time of 2 hours 53 minutes and 22 seconds.
 
 Route 66 Marathon

   Three-State Route 66 Marathon to End in Joplin (Kansas City)
The first ever Route 66 Mother Road Marathon is scheduled for October 3, 2009. The race will cover the famed route from Miami, Oklahoma to Joplin, Missouri. The race organizers expect to attract more than one thousand participants.
 
 Run for the Ranch Marathon

   "Best day you could imagine" for races at Run for the Ranch Marathon. (News-Leader)
Although the winds howled along much of the course at the Run for the Ranch Marathon, the sun shone and the temps hovered near 45 degrees. The 2:30 pm race start allowed for near perfect conditions for the charity race.
 
   "Run for the Ranch" Raises Money for Troubled Youth (Ozarks First)
Hundreds of runners from across the country gathered to run distances from the 5K to the marathon to raise money for the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch just south of Springfield, Missouri. The races consisted of multiple loops through the Phelps Grove Park area.
