The fifty-first running of the Atlantic City Marathon was slated for October 16. Plans for a new race director fell through and until the Jewish Community Center stepped up it looked as though the fourth oldest marathon in the country was coming to an end.

Corina Canitz may wind up being the winner of the Lakefront Marathon if race officials disqualify Jennifer Goebel for using her iPod along the course. The original winner, Cassie Peller was disqualified for taking aide from a non-certified aide station.
