   Another Sizzling Debut - 2:06:18 by Yegon in Amsterdam to Break Gebrselassie's Course Record (IAAF.com)
Gilbert Yegon eclipsed Haile Gebrselassie's record in the Amsterdam Marathon with his winning time of 2 hours 6 minutes and 18 seconds.

   Columbus Marathon: Ohioan Sneaks in to Win Men's Division (Columbus Dispatch)
Matthew Folk watched Richard Kessio of Kenya pull away at the twenty-mile mark only to regain the lead in the final few strides as he snuck by the fading runner. Folk captured the title with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 45 seconds.

   Des Moines Marathon: Train Turns Men's Race Into All-Out Sprint (Des Moines Register)
Simon Sawe was leading the Des Moines Marathon when a train brought him to a sudden stop within the last four-hundred meters. David Tuwei caught the leader but could not match Sawe's speed in the final sprint
 
 Kampala Marathon

   Kampala Marathon Hits 6000 Mark (The New Vision)
Six-thousand runners registered for the Kampala Marathon in five days. The marathon is capped at fifteen-thousand runners for the November 22 event. The event closed registration last year when the cap of eleven-thousand runners was surpassed by two-hundred.

   Herr Wins Mount Desert Island Marathon Again (Bar Harbor Times)
David Herr won his sixth Mount Desert Island Marathon in the past eight years. His time of 2 hours 35 minutes and 22 seconds was just over three minutes from a course record.

   2009 Nike Women's Marathon Results: California Runner Wins (Examiner.com)
More than twenty-thousand runners competed in the Nike Women's Marathon. Caitlin Smith of Oakland California won the marathon with a time of 2 hours 58 minutes and 52 seconds.

   "Unbearable" Heat Slows-Up Amman Marathon (IAAF.com)
David Kiptum won the Amman Marathon in 2 hours 20 minutes and 48 seconds despite soaring temperatures. The women's winner was Tadelech Telila who won with a time of 2 hours 51 minutes and 39 seconds.
 
   Runners Complete Abingdon Marathon Missions (Oxford Mail)
Tilsley Park marked the start of the twenty-sixth annual Abingdon Marathon where Samantha Amend retained her title with a time of 2 hours 45 minutes and 38 seconds for the women's marathon. Paul Martelletti won the overall title with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 37 seconds.
 
   Third Time Lucky for Goeieman at Luck Star Marathon (All Africa.com)
Erich Goeieman won the Lucky Star Marathon in this third attempt in the past three years. His time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 19 seconds was nearly 10 minutes ahead of second place.
 
 Wichita Marathon

   Garrett, Stucky Tops in Heart of Wichita Marathon (Wichita Eagle)
Jonathon Garrett won his first marathon at the Heart of Wichita Marathon with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes while Raquel Stucky won the women's race with a time of 2 hours 56 minutes and 26 seconds.

   Newcomer Yegon Claims Amsterdam Marathon (More Than the Games)
Gilbert Yegon stormed to the finish line of the Amsterdam Marathon with a time of 2 hours 6 minutes and 18 seconds to lower the course record by two seconds. Eyerusalem Kuma won the women's title in 2 hours 27 minutes and 42 seconds.
 
 Beijing Int'l Marathon

   Bai and Mugo Take Beijing Marathon Titles (IAAF.com)
World Marathon champion Bai Xue of China won her second Beijing Marathon title on the women's side. Samuel Mugo took home top honors for the men with a new personal best of 2 hours 8 minutes and 20 seconds.
 
   Kenya, China Split Medals at Beijing International Marathon (China Daily)
Mugo Samual of Kenya won the Beijing Marathon with a time of 2 hours 8 minutes and 20 seconds. Bai Xue of China won the women's marathon title with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 44 seconds.
 
 Columbus Marathon

   Ohioans Capture Men's, Women's Columbus Marathon (Columbus Dispatch)
Matt Folk caught Richard Kessio in the homestretch of the Columbus Marathon to win with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 45 seconds. Kessio would finish five seconds back.

   Columbus Marathon: Record Time? Probably Not (Columbus Dispatch)
The course record for the Columbus Marathon was set by Tommy Persson of Sweden in 2 hours 11 minutes and 2 seconds. While prize money has improved, it still pales in comparison to that of larger marathons.
 
 Des Moines Marathon

   Records Broken At Des Moines Marathon (KCCI.com)
Race records fell in Des Moines Iowa as Jenna Brown smashed the half-marathon record by over two-minutes lowering the record to 1 hour 16 minutes and 40 seconds. The 5K record was lowered to 17 minutes and 48 seconds.
 
   Iowan Friedman Wins Women's Marathon in Des Moines (Des Moines Register)
Robyn Friedman broke her own course record with her win in the Des Moines Marathon with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 31 seconds.
 
   Kenyan Simon Sawe Wins Men's Marathon in Des Moines (Des Moines Register)
Simon Sawe of Kenya was caught up by a train on the final stretch of the Des Moines Marathon. David Tuwei caught Sawe and the two battled the last four-hundred meters where Sawe pulled out the win with a time of 2 hours 24 minutes and 51 seconds with Tuwei 4 seconds behind.
 
 Detroit International Marathon

   2009 Detroit Marathon: Haslett Man Finishes 1ST (Detroit Free Press)
Nick Stanko won the Detroit Marathon with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 23 seconds just a few ticks of the clock ahead of Chad Johnson. Sarar Plaxton, running her 52 marathon, won the women's division of the marathon.

   Three Runners Die in Detroit Marathon (Detroit Free Press)
The thirty-second Detroit Marathon was marred by the death of three men. Daniel Landgon, Rick Brown and Jon Fenlon each collapsed during their respective races. They were the first three deaths in the race since 1994.

   Stanko Edges Johnson for Detroit Marathon Win (Detroit Free Press)
Nicholas Stanko worked with Chad Johnson to the twenty-second mile when Stanko surged ahead to win the Detroit Marathon with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 22 seconds. Johnson would finish in 2 hours 20 minutes and 53 seconds.

   Runner Uses Friend's Dying Wishes as Inspiration in Grand Rapids Marathon (MLive.com)
John Grzybek will run the Grand Rapids Marathon with the hope of finally qualifying for the famed Boston Marathon. Grzybek has tried three times to qualify. The loss of his friend Jim Welch on Friday to leukemia will provided a little boost of motivation.

   Jeff Scovill and Hannah Norton top fields at Grand Rapids Marathon (MLive.com)
Jeff Scovill won the Grand Rapids Marathon with a time of 2 hours 31 minutes and 14 seconds while Hannah Norton took home top honors in the women's marathon with a time of 2 hours 58 minutes and 51 seconds.
 
 Indianapolis Marathon

   Bland Wins Indy Marathon (Indy Star)
More than six-thousand runners ran through the streets of Lawrence Indiana for the Indianapolis Marathon. Josh Bland of Chicago won the race with a time of 2 hours 38 minutes and 7 seconds.
 
 Istanbul Eurasia Marathon

   Ethiopians Sweep Eurasia Marathon Honors (Hurriyet Daily News)
Kasime Adilo Roba of Ethiopia took home top honors in the Istanbul Eurasia Marathon with a time of 2 hours 12 minutes and 14 seconds. Bizunesh Urgesa won the women's marathon with a time of 2 hours 32 minutes and 45 seconds
 
 Kansas City Marathon

   More Than 10,000 Runners Hit Street for Kansas City Marathon (Kansas City Star)
Trey Vernon won the overall title at the Kansas City Marathon with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 46 seconds while Amy Bricco won the women's title with a time of 3 hours 14 minutes and 12 seconds
 
 Lewis & Clark Marathon (MO)

   St. Paul Native Takes Men's Marathon; Le MarsÂ’ Meister Wins Half-Marathon (Sioux City Journal)
Tom Tisell crossed the finish line ahead of all comers at the Lewis and Clark Marathon with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 46 seconds on the last year for the current course.
 
 New Denver Marathon

   Coloradans Dominate Denver Marathon (CBS4Denver)
Chris Siemers took home the overall title in the Denver Marathon while Holly McIlvaine took home top honors on the women's side of the 26.2 mile race.
