   Newcomer Yegon Claims Amsterdam Marathon (More Than the Games)
Gilbert Yegon stormed to the finish line of the Amsterdam Marathon with a time of 2 hours 6 minutes and 18 seconds to lower the course record by two seconds. Eyerusalem Kuma won the women's title in 2 hours 27 minutes and 42 seconds.

The Amsterdam Marathon will host nearly nine-thousand athletes on Sunday. Three men entered in the marathon have personal bests lower than 2 hours and 7 minutes. Three other entrants have run under 2 hours and 9 minutes for 26.2 miles
 
   Netherland's Kibet Starts as Favorite at Amsterdam Marathon (European Athletics)
Hilda Kibet has a personal best of 2 hours and 32 minutes in the marathon and hopes to lower that time this Sunday at the Amsterdam Marathon where she is favored to win.

More than seven-thousand, four-hundred and forty pounds of recyclable material was collected after the Baltimore Marathon. Just over one ton of compostable material was taken from the course as well.

   Baystate Marathon 2009 Results (Examiner.com)
Lowell Massachusetts played host to the 2009 Bay State Marathon. More than fifteen-hundred runners competed in the rain, snow and temperatures in the thirties on the flat course. Brandon Newbould won the overall title with a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 53 seconds.

   Bai and Mugo Take Beijing Marathon Titles (IAAF.com)
World Marathon champion Bai Xue of China won her second Beijing Marathon title on the women's side. Samuel Mugo took home top honors for the men with a new personal best of 2 hours 8 minutes and 20 seconds.
 
   Kenya, China Split Medals at Beijing International Marathon (China Daily)
Mugo Samual of Kenya won the Beijing Marathon with a time of 2 hours 8 minutes and 20 seconds. Bai Xue of China won the women's marathon title with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 44 seconds.

Jenny Bristow has joined up with the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity for the 2010 RiverRock Belfast City Marathon. The Marie Curie Cancer Care is hoping to recruit fifteen-hundred people to run the marathon with Chef Bristow.

The sixth annual Bizz Johnson Trail race saw over six-hundred runners competing in various events. The overall marathon title went to Fred Zalokar with a time of 2 hours 47 minutes and 48 seconds.

Many runners in the Chicago Marathon were fired up to have their race progress sent to family and friends and spectator alike were excited to follow multiple runners in the Chicago Marathon. Active.com's technological glitch prevented the progress from happening as promised.

   Columbus Marathon: Ohioan Sneaks in to Win Men's Division (Columbus Dispatch)
Matthew Folk watched Richard Kessio of Kenya pull away at the twenty-mile mark only to regain the lead in the final few strides as he snuck by the fading runner. Folk captured the title with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 45 seconds.

   Ohioans Capture Men's, Women's Columbus Marathon (Columbus Dispatch)
Matt Folk caught Richard Kessio in the homestretch of the Columbus Marathon to win with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 45 seconds. Kessio would finish five seconds back.

The course record for the Columbus Marathon was set by Tommy Persson of Sweden in 2 hours 11 minutes and 2 seconds. While prize money has improved, it still pales in comparison to that of larger marathons.

Simon Sawe was leading the Des Moines Marathon when a train brought his race to a screeching halt in the homestretch of the marathon. Runners in second and third caught Sawe. Fortunately Sawe was able to out sprint the other two runners to the finish.

Simon Sawe was leading the Des Moines Marathon when a train brought him to a sudden stop within the last four-hundred meters. David Tuwei caught the leader but could not match Sawe's speed in the final sprint

   Records Broken At Des Moines Marathon (KCCI.com)
Race records fell in Des Moines Iowa as Jenna Brown smashed the half-marathon record by over two-minutes lowering the record to 1 hour 16 minutes and 40 seconds. The 5K record was lowered to 17 minutes and 48 seconds.
 
   Kenyan Simon Sawe Wins Men's Marathon in Des Moines (Des Moines Register)
Simon Sawe of Kenya was caught up by a train on the final stretch of the Des Moines Marathon. David Tuwei caught Sawe and the two battled the last four-hundred meters where Sawe pulled out the win with a time of 2 hours 24 minutes and 51 seconds with Tuwei 4 seconds behind.
 
   Iowan Friedman Wins Women's Marathon in Des Moines (Des Moines Register)
Robyn Friedman broke her own course record with her win in the Des Moines Marathon with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 31 seconds.

Autopsies were performed on the three men that died in the Detroit Marathon on Sunday. Initial autopsy results were inconclusive although doctors are saying that the three deaths are a statistical fluke.

Daniel Langdon was the father of three who passed while running in the Detroit Marathon. It was Langdon's birthday and he collapsed between the eleven and twelve mile markers. Autopsy results are pending.

The benefits of training for a marathon outweigh the risks. A London based study showed that only one in sixty-seven thousand marathon runners will die due to causes linked to the race.

   Three Runners Die in Detroit Marathon (Detroit Free Press)
The thirty-second Detroit Marathon was marred by the death of three men. Daniel Landgon, Rick Brown and Jon Fenlon each collapsed during their respective races. They were the first three deaths in the race since 1994.
