 Accra International Marathon

   Adukpo, Millicent win Accra Milo Marathon (Joy Online)
21-year-old Godwin Adukpo and Millicent Boadi, 26, won the men and ladies’ races respectively in this year’s Accra Milo Marathon on Saturday. Adukpo o victory in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 27 seconds, five clear minutes ahead of veteran and event record holder, David Zigah, who clocked 2:35:46.

   Cape Cod Marathon: Fisher, Westerling win (Cape Cod Times)
The first time was a charm for Mike Fisher in the 31st Dunkin' Donuts Cape Cod Marathon. With balmy 65 degree temperatures at the start of the race at 8:30 a.m., the 24-year-old Brookline resident finished well ahead of the pack yesterday, with a winning time of 2 hours 33 minutes and 12 seconds in his first-ever marathon. In the women's race, 27-year-old Heidi Westerling, of Acworth, N.H., won for the fourth straight year with a time of 2 hours 50 minutes and 43 seconds.

   Naumov and Zousko strike gold in Dublin Marathon (Irish Times)
With a record field of 11,700 particpants in the Dublin Marathon, Andriy Naumov,Ukraine, won the Dublin Marathon in a time of 2 hours 11 minutes and 7 seconds. Larissa Zousko, who finished a close second in last year Dublin Marathon, returned this year to win the distance in a time of 2 hours 29 minutes and 55 seconds.

   Record numbers under way in Dublin marathon (Irish Times)
Alina Ivanova, Russia, joined over 11,700 runners for the Dublin Marathon on Monday Morning. The field of runners consisted of fifty-seven percent local runners. The women participating made up roughly one third of the field showing a dramatic increase over last year.
 
 Istanbul Eurasia Marathon

   Ethiopia’s Roba wins International Eurasia Marathon (Today's Zaman)
Adilo Kasime Roba of Ethiopia won the men's marathon at the 30th International Eurasia Marathon in İstanbul on Sunday. Roba finished with a time of 2 hours 11 minutes and 16 seconds.
 
 Marine Corps Marathon

   First-time marathoners win Marine Corps race (USA Today)
First-time marathoners won the men's and women's divisions of the 33rd Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday. Andrew Dumm of Washington took first in the men's marathon in 2 hours, 22 minutes, 42 seconds, and Cate Fenster of Wooster, Ohio, led the women's field in 2 hours 39 minutes and 32 seconds.
 
 Nairobi Marathon

   Tuiyange, Muthoni win Stanchart Nairobi marathon (Daily Nation)
amson Kikwei Tuiyange and Emma Muthoni won men and women's Standard Chartered Nairobi marathon respectively. Tuiyange's time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 30 seconds was the fastest time for the marathon since its inauguration six years ago
 
 New York City Marathon

   Radcliffe coasts in Portsmouth for ideal New York Marathon warm-up (Guardian)
Paula Radcliffe raced through the rain with no pain at all as she dominated the Bupa Great South Run with a time of 51 minutes and 11 seconds. Only 21 seconds off of the world record. Radcliffe will head to New York to defend her New York Marathon Title this weekend.
 
   Marathoner Gete Wami Looks to Rebound in New York Race (New York Times)
Gete Wami chose marathon running for her career when she was a teenager in Ethiopia. In a span of 13 months, Wami, 33, has run four marathons. She won Berlin in 2007 and $500,000 She then finished a close second five weeks later in New York. In April 2008, she was in the lead pack when she fell hard at a water stop in London. She limped to a third-place finish. Then in August, Wami dropped out after 18.5 miles at the Beijing Olympics with intestinal distress. New York will be her first return since the injury and the drop out race.

The world-famous event, which crosses the starting line in Staten Island on November 2, attracts runners from all over the world, including Hollywood. It has been 25 years since Elizabeth Primrose last ran a marathon. She won the Niagara Falls marathon with a time 2 hours 55 minutes and 26 seconds. The 47-year-old had raced in many 5 and 10km races, half marathons and triathlons over the years, but she decided to give a full 42.2km marathon a shot Sunday proving she has not lost her touch.

The Lake District area of Cumbria in the United Kingdom received such torrential downpours of rain and wind that organizers had to shut the event down and attempt to help many of the nearly twenty-five hundred runners.

   Mugo takes Porto Marathon (IAAF.org)
The fifth Porto Marathon, which was held this Sunday in northern Portuguese city, produced another Kenyan win in the men’s event with the second best ever male Marathon result on Portuguese soil. Samuel Muturi Mugo produced a personal best of 2 hours 11 minutes and 8 seconds.

   Reggae Marathon: bigger and better (Jamaica Gleaner)
On December 6 over one-thousand runners are expect to descend into Negril, Jamaica for what promises to be a great marathon. This years events will include a ten kilometer run as well as the 26.2 mile distance. Event directors hope to develop long distance running with Jamaica.

Organizers of the Reggae Marathon, the Jamdammers running club of Kingston, have added the 10K event to the marathon weekend line-up. The Marathon and Half Marathon road races set for Saturday, December 6 in Negril will include the 10K event for an easier entry into long distance running.
