		World Anti-Doping officials to test for drugs in MTN Kampala International Marathon (New Vision Online) The MTN Kampala International Marathon is set for November 23. Race officials have set out to have members of the World Anti-Doping Federation to randomly test the elite athletes. In order to secure international status with the IAAF, random drug test and official course certification are required.

		New York City Marathon Glory Comes With a Price (ABC News) The 1970 New York City Marathon had only 127 runners and no one mentioned injury. Last year the number of participants reached over 39,000. The injuries the resulted included black toenails, bloody appendages, stomach issues, missing toe nails and slew of other abnormalities that makes many runners pay for their 26.2 miles of glory with some extreme pain.
		Providing Toilets for 39,000 Runners in the New York City Marathon (New York Times) Nearly 300 portable restrooms will adorn central park on Sunday morning for finishers and spectators of the New York City Marathon. Roughly 1,700 of the multi-colored 7 foot waste facilities have been set up at Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island for the start of the 26.2 mile journey.

		Santa Clarita Marathon Set For Sunday (KHTS Hometown Station) The Santa Clarita Marathon will start Sunday morning at 7 am in front of the Hyatt Valencia. The hotel is also hosting the Health and Fitness Exposition where runners can pick up their race number and T-shirt and the public can visit running and health related boots from 9 am until 5 pm on Saturday.

		Motorists beware, Manchester Marathon runners ahead (Union Leader) Police plan to divert traffic and close roads in Manchester to allow roughly 2,000 runners to pass through the city while running in the Manchester Marathon. Streets will be closed or restricted to one lane and motorists should expect delays in the morning hours of Sunday.

		Mountain Maryland Marathon (Cumberland Time-News) April 19 of 2009 will mark the inaugural Mountain Maryland Marathon in Allegany County. 		Training together helps runners complete Baystate Marathon (The Republican) Meaghan Mathews,Springfield, and Kathy Lynch, South Hadley ran a high number of mileage together while training for the Bay State Marathon, the largest marathon in the state. Mathews nipped Lynch at the line for fourth place with a time of 3 hours and 4 seconds. Lynch was just six second off her shoulder.

		Pace car ride inspires Kara Goucher's New York City Marathon run (USA Today) Kara Goucher will make her marathon debut this weekend in the New York City Marathon. Her race was inspired by a tour in the pace car during last year's New York City Marathon where Goucher watched an inspiring race to victory by marathon champion Paula Radcliffe. Goucher will enter the marathon world by racing against Radcliffe this weekend.
		New York City Marathon Organizers Paint Finish Line (NY1) Mary Wittenberg joined other organizers of the 39th Annual New York City Marathon to paint the famed finish line of the 26.2 mile course in Central Park. Over 75 gallons of paint were used to highlight the spot where roughly 40,000 people will race across on Sunday morning.

		Kenyans Bond Over Running and Trees. (New York Times) Simon Wangai was a lumberman in Kenya and a runner. Hosea Rotich was a sworn forest ranger paid to protect the trees from poachers. The two were thrown into an altercation and managed to become friends and great runners. Wangai was third in the Beijieng Marathon and Rotich is a favorite in this weekends New York City Marathon.

		A look at the top 5 female contenders for the NYC Marathon (News Day) Gete Wami walked out into the press conference as one of the top five favorites for Sunday's New York City Marathon. Last year's winner she was joined by fellow Ethiopian Dire Tune, New Zealander Kim Smith and Kenyans Catherine Ndereba and Rita Jeptoo. Defending champion Paula Radcliffe of England, who is 5-8 and 119, will stand out amongst the elite field like a tree amidst weeds.

		Tergat targets New York City Marathon title (Daily Nation) Paul Tergat, 39, stated Thursday that he should not be discounted for the overall title. Tergat's victory over Hendrick Ramaala by three tenths of a seconds in 2005 was named by the New York Road Runners club as the fourth greatest race in the club's history. Ramaala will have a chance to redeem himself this weekend.

		Bass Pro Shops Marathon Festival will include slate of fitness fun (News-Leader) The Bass Pro Shops second annual marathon will be held this weekend in conjunction with the Fitness Festival. More than 700 volunteers and 5,000 participants from 20 states are expected to show up for the list of activities including the marathon, half-marathon, 5K run and walk and games.

		Inaugural Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half-Marathon (Indy Star) The inaugural Indianapolis Monumental Marathon and Half-Marathon will take place at 8 am Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis. Proceeds will benefit local education initiatives and benefit the Mind Trust non profit group and College Summit.

Ndreba has place in 16 of her 17 marathons and has a personal best of 2 hours and 18 minutes for the marathon
