   Hanson's Race Team plans Olympic Trials Marathon Strategy For Saturday!!! (The Detroit News)
Brian Sell took and early lead in 2004 at the Birmingham Olympic Marathon Trials and faded late into the race. Two of his teammatesBrian Trent Briney and Clint Verran finished fourth and fifth, to earn alternate spots on the Olympic Team. The team may have some surprises up their sleeves this year as well.

A 70-year-old Ulsterman put his feet up after completing his 28th Dublin marathon in 4 hours and 59 minutes. Pat O'Loughlin a jeweller from Castlederg jeweller completed his 29th consecutive Dublin marathon while is wife Philomena cheered him on. Pat was the oldest person in Northern Ireland to compete in the gruelling 26.2 mile run.

Niles officials are demanding the City of Chicago save all radio dispatches, 911 calls and other emergency communications on the day of this years Chicago Marathon. It was a Niles ambulance driver who allegedly got lost and had to stop to ask for directions while transporting collapsed Chicago marathon runner Chad Schieber, who was later pronounced dead.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials -- Men's Marathon, hosted by the New York Road Runners in partnership with USA Track & Field, will take place at 7:35 a.m. Saturday in New York City beginning in front of Rockefeller Center on 50th Street near Fifth Avenue, with the St. Patrick's Cathedral as its majestic backdrop.

Meb Keflezighi was still wearing his black stocking cap and green jacket after a quick loop around the Central Park reservoir on a chilly fall day. Keflezighi wants to improve on his marathon silver medal from the 2004 Athens Olympics, and the first step toward that goal is the U.S. Olympic Team Trials Marathon on Saturday.

Heidi Westerling had an especially good day at the Cape Cod Marathon yesterday. In addition to her women's open division championship — her third straight — the Acworth, N.H., resident got to enjoy her boyfriend riding his bike around the course, her parents holding the finish-line tape for her arrival in 2:45.51 and her father handing her the first-place medal.
