Alpharetta Marathon and Half Marathon Set to Run: March 2, 2008 (The Weekly Online) The 2nd Annual Alpahretta Marathon will begin at 7 am on March 2, 2008. This will mark Alpharettas 2008 Sesquicentennial Celebration. Along with a $4,000 dollar prize purse to include age group winners, special monetary prizes will go to the 150th person across the half way point and the finish line. Kenyans Dominate 20th Bangkok Marathon (Bangkok Post) Kenyans took 13 of the top 14 spots at the Bangkok Marathon. Kenya's John Chirchir Tubal was the winner in 2:18:27, just ahead of Philip Tarus Rolich who finished second in 2:18:47. Disdery Lucian Humbo of Tanzania, the only non-Kenyan in the top 14, finished third in 2:19:28. | ||

Providence to Host New Marathon (Boston Herald) Providence Rhode Island will begin hosting its newest marathon event beginning on May 4th. The events, titled Cox Providence Rhode Races, will include the marathon, half-marathon, marathon relay, 5 kilometer run and childrens races. John Mathews, president of Eident Sports Marketing, stated that it will be a runners course and void of any large hills. The Rhode Island Race hopes to attract 10,000 runners in its first year. A prize purse is expected but exact amounts have yet to be determined. | ||
