   Castille, Ray Capture Baton Rouge Beach Marathon Titles (The Advocate)
Kevin Castille ran away with the Baton Rouge Beach Marathon with a time of 2 hours 47 minutes. Autumn Ray won the womens overall marathon title with a time of 2 hours 58 minutes and 57 seconds for a new course record.

   California International Marathon draws record crowd (NEWS 10)
The 26th California International Marathon kicked off with more than 11600 participants. Halefom Abebe, from Ethiopa, won the mens 2 hours and 16 minutes. Natalia Sokolova of St. Petersburg, Russia won on the women's marathon, finishing in 2 hours and 32 minutes.

Last year was the first time the Cayman Islands Marathon added the Kids Run in the Sun. It was such a success that the this years group will be even larger. The 9:30 am start time will send hundreds of kids from eight to twelve hustling down toward the finish line.

Although a growing brain tumor is preventing him from doing what he loved and what cleared his head, 22 friends and family will carry his spirit across the finish line of the 26.2 mile race.

Darris Blackford of Columbus Ohio will run his one-hundred and twentieth marathon in Dallas this coming Sunday. Blackford is part of the Clif Bar pace team at the Dallas White Rock Marathon and the aim to run even mile splits to help other runners run a goal time for the marathon.

The 2008 Eugene marathon provided organizers of the race with some new ideas. They listened and will reduce the bottle neck at the Autzen Footbridge by utilizing the wider Knickerbocker Bridge later in the race. The marathon will once again provide a training group for each of the events.

Defending Marathon of the Palm Beaches Champion Paul Rugut of Kenya ran side by side with Miramar's Ronnie Holassie for much of the fifth annual Marathon of the Palm Beaches. Holassie would win by 2 seconds to dethrone the defending champion.
 
   Lee DiPietro, 50, is oldest marathon winner at Marathon of the Palm Beaches (Sun Sentinel)
At 50 years of age, Lee DiPietro is the oldest woman to win the Marathon of the Palm Beaches with an impressive time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 41 seconds. DiPietro started running at the age of 25 right after she had her first child
