Shares in Adidas rose more than 3 percent on Monday, December 3. Rumor that Asics and Nike are bidding for Adidas. Adidas is the number two in the industry after Nike. Nike just purchased Umbro in October 2007.

   Woman's marathon win comes with loss (The Palm Beach Post)
Sonja Friend-Uhl's victory of the 2007 Marathon of the Palm Beaches in a 2:59:22 had a sad undertone. Two weeks earlier, Friend-Uhl lost her 31-year-old brother, Erik, in a traffic accident in Delaware. His death affected her decision to switch from the half-marathon to the full marathon. She will dedicate her run at the 2008 Disney Marathon to him.

   Gideon Talam wins Tucson Marathon and vows to break record (Tucson Citizen)
Gideon Talam walked away with the Tuscon Marathon Victory in 2:24 and asked to have some competition as his best is 2:14 in Europe. The women's winner on the downhill course was Brandy Erholtz, Bailey, Colo., 2:49:16.

 California International Marathon

   Kenyan Wins California International Marathon (KCRA.com)
Laban Moiban of Kenya who was an early leader at the twenty-fifth anniversary of the California International Marathon won in 2:14:44. Richard Kimeli placed second and John Gathoga took third. place. Wioletta Kryza took first place in the women's race.
 
 Fukuoka Int'l Open Marathon Championship

   2:06:39 debut victory for Wanjiru in Fukuoka (IAAF Athletics)
At a press conference prior to the Fukuoka International Marathon, Kenyan Half Marathon World Record Holder Sammy Wanjiru made two promises - to win his debut marathon and to finish in a 2:06. Keeping close to Wanjiru through most of the race was Deriba Merga of Ethiopia who finished second in 2:06:50. Atsushi Sato, Japan's Half Marathon record holder, placed third in 2:07:13, a personal best by one minute twenty-three seconds.
 
   Wanjiru edges Merga to win Fukuoka Marathon (International Herald Tribune)
Best known for having the fastest half marathon finishes in the world, Kenyan Samuel Wanjiru won the Fukuoka International Marathon in his marathon debut with a time of 2:06:39 on Sunday, December 2, 2007. Ethiopia's Deriba Merga came in a close second in a 2:06:50. Atsushi Sato took third place in a time of 2:07:13.
 
 Las Vegas International Marathon

   Skvortsova, Cheboibich win Las Vegas Marathon (International Herald Times)
Silviya Skvortsova of Russia finished the Las Vegas Marathon ahead of her male counter part, Christopher Cheboibich of Kenya, to win the inter gender competition and pick up a bonus of $25,000 on top of her $20,000 for winning the women's race. Skvortsova ran 2:29 to Cheboibich's 2:16. The Russian's 18 minute head start would prove to much for the Kenyan to overcome.
 
 Milano City Marathon

   Cheruiyot wins in debut, Chepchumba cruises to personal best at the Milan Marathon (IAAF Athletics)
Kenyans Evans Kiprop Cheruiyot and Pamela Chepchumba ran to victory at the 2007 Milan Marathon. Both bronze medalists at the 2007 World Road Running Championships in Udine, had impressive pacemakers, Martin Lel and Margaret Okayo, leading the way up to the half marathon mark. Cheruiyot finished his debut in a 2:09:15, while favorite Chepchumba won in a 2:25:36.

   Kiprop Cheruiyot and Chepchumba win the Milan Marathon (Guardian Limited)
In a big weekend for Kenyan marathon victories all over the globe, Kenyans Evans Kiprop Cheruiyot and Pamela Chepchumba win the 2007 Milan Marathon. Cheruiyot, who was third at the IAAF World Road Running Championship Half Marathon in Udine in October, finished in a 2:09:15. Pamela Chepchumba of Kenya won the women's race in 2:25:37.
 
 Palm Beaches Marathon Festival

   Friend-Uhl, Rogut Take Marathon Titles at Marathon of the Palm Beaches (PalmBeachPost.com)
West Palm Beach local elite runner Sonja Frined-Uhl wins the women's race a 2:59:22. Marathon of the Palm Beaches was Friend-Uhl's debut marathon and a preparatory run for next month's 2008 Disney Marathon. Paul Rogut, a Kenyan based in Denver, won the men's race in a 2:29:23. Despite the warm South Florida temperatures - 73 degrees, 73 percent humidity; many took note of the a flock of about a hundred vultures that began circling over the start/finish area.
