 Austin Marathon
  Post-Race Review/ Results
   Pishny wins Austin Marathon women's race (Austin 360)
Elle Pishny came to Austin to visit her recently relocated sister and went home a marathon winner. Pishny won the womens marathon title with a time of taking first place in 2 hours, 52 minutes and 32 seconds, a personal best, but still 16 minutes slower than last years womens winning time.
 
   Chicago's Borling top finisher in Austin Marathon (Austin 360)
Jeremy Borling recalled his college coach's wisdom to run his own race and let the lead pack of half marathon runners go ahead of him in the first mile of the marathon. Borling would go on to win his first marathon with a time of 2 hours 30 minutes and 5 seconds.

   Marathon a Boost to Tourism (Sarasota Herald Tribune)

Although the National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer is only in its second year, the 26.2 and 13.1 mile race ran smoothly. Nearly six-thousand runners came out to make a difference in the struggle against breast cancer.

   Sivdhan wins Chennai Marathon (The Hindu)
Sivdhan from Rajasthan won the seventh edition of the Cheennai Marathon by outlasting Bibul Sugariya from Hyderabad who finished second in 2 hours 34 minutes and 8 seconds. Nagendra Rao was third in 2 hours 34 minutes and 48 seconds.
 
 Lost Dutchman Marathon

   Lost Dutchman Marathon is a treasure for participants (East Valley Tribune)
Blue Benadum took home top honors in the Lost Dutchman marathon with a winning time of 2 hours 42 minutes. Benadum placed fourth in the Huntington Beach Marathon which took place two weeks ago.
 
 Mercedes Marathon

   Cheruiyot, Jacobs win Mercedes Marathon (The Birmingham News)
David Cheruiyot took home top honors and a two-thousand dollar prize purse at the Mercedes Marathon with his winning time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 23 seconds. Michael Wardian finished in the second spot two years in a row with a time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 33 seconds.
 
 Myrtle Beach Marathon

   Engineering student wins in his first marathon at Myrtle Beach Marathon (The Sun News)
Cameron Bell won the 12th annual Myrtle Beach Marathon in a time of 2 hours, 34 minutes and 14 seconds. He was followed by over twenty-five hundred other stampeding runners. Bell received help after crossing the finish line due to exhaustion.

   Hallex, Young take Pensacola Marathon crowns (Pensacola News Journal)
Ron Young built a huge lead on his way to win the fifth annual Pensacola Marathon with a time of 2 hours 36 minutes and 20 seconds. Anna Hallex took home the womens overall marathon title with a time of 2 hours 58 minutes and 30 seconds.

   National Marathon Field Has Sights Set on Wardian (NBC Washington)
Michael Wardian has won the SunTrust National Marathon in each of its first three years. But he's really got his work cut out for him in 2009: race organizers, hoping to push the course record time below 2:20, have brought in three impressive elite runners to challege Wardian.

Forty-two states and seven countries were represented in the Sarasota Marathon as nearly two-thousand runners took to the streets. Tom Trealout was the men's overall winner with a time of 2 hours 53 minutes and 21 seconds. Dot Martin of Vermont took home top womens honors.

The Fifth Annual Surfside Marathon kicked off Sunday and current record-holder Stephen Baumgartner of Houston finished just three minutes shy of his course record set in 2007. He ran the marathon in 2 hours 58 minutes and 45 seconds.

David Bryan of Concord, age 45, will participate in The Last Marathon next month in Antarctica, along with 150 other runners. He said that the windy weather of late in New Hampshire has helped him prepare, at least somewhat, for the weather that awaits him in Antarctica.

Kara Goucher is running the women's 3,000 meter race tonight at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games, but her real focus is on the upcoming Boston Marathon. After running the 3,000m tonight, she will run the last 20 miles of the marathon course for training tomorrow.
