Jonathan Kipkorir finished just five seconds ahead of fellow countrymen Daniel Njenga to win the Beppa-Oita Marathon with a time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 50 seconds.

   Moneghetti Hails Hunt's Marathon Debut (The Sydney Morning Herald)
Peter Kipkorir won the Beppu Oita Marathon with a time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 50 seconds. Daniel Ngenja was six seconds back for second place and Jeff Hunt took third in 2 hours 13 minutes and 27 seconds.

Bill Rodgers won the Boston and New York Marathons four times each during the late seventies. Rodgers ran the half-marathon event at the Melbourne and Beaches Marathon and finished with a time of 1 hour 39 minutes and 41 seconds in a strong wind.

Brian Alessandro won the Melbourne and Beaches Music Marathon with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes and 12 seconds. Eileen Posgay took home the top spot for the women's division with a time of 3 hours 20 minutes and 22 seconds.

Michael Wardian won the Miami Marathon with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 39 seconds in a wire to wire victory. Brett Ely took home top honors for the women with a time of 2 hours 45 minutes and 36 seconds.

Michael Wardian won the ING Miami Marathon with a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 39 seconds. Brazilian Cesar Martins finished in second place with a time of 2 hours 36 minutes and 3 seconds.

Running legend Steve Cram is getting into the marathon business by announcing the Kielder Marathon which is being titled Britains Most Beautiful Marathon. The mostly off-road course is scheduled for October 17.

Subedar Deep Chand won the Mawana Sugars Indian Open Marathon with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes. Sukanya Mall brought home the gold in the women's marathon with a time of 2 hours 59 minutes.
