Deriba Merga, Ethiopia, will take to the streets of Boston on April 19 to defend his 2009 Boston Marathon title. Robert Kipkoech Cheruiyot, Kenya, will hope to improve on his second place finish to Merga last year.

Chuck Engle, Dublin Ohio, was the second runner to cross the marathon line at the North Carolina Marathon. But the first runner to cross did not register for the marathon and was disqualified allowing Engle to earn top honors.
 
   Wrong Path Sends Runner On A Marathon Of Twists And Turns (Hampton Roads)
Ryan Carrol entered the half-marathon race in North Carolina but wound up on the marathon course which he finished only to be disqualified allowing Chuck Engle, who registered for the marathon, to earn the win notching his first win of 2010.

Tesfaye Sendeku was following a pace-setting motorcycle and finished the Georgia Marathon with a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and was then disqualified for skipping an out and back loop near the twenty-two mile mark. Jynocel Basweti was declared the eventual winner with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 49 seconds.

Siraj Gena won the Rome City Marathon with a time of 2 hours 8 minutes and 39 seconds and did so without wearing shoes. Gena ran the race as a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Abebe Bikila's Gold medal performance in the 1960 Olympic Marathon

Chuck Engle of Dublin, Ohio won the third annual North Carolina Marathon with a time of 2 hours 46 minutes and 4 seconds while Felipe Amador was more than four minutes behind Engle.
