The date change for the Los Angeles Marathon from March first to May twenty-fifth has left a few runners wondering what to do. In 2003 and 2005 the temperatures in the last week of May reached 100 and that could lead to a race cancellation for all but the elite runners.

   Krum runner wins third straight Cowtown Marathon (Dallas News)
Keith Pierce smashed the course record for the Cowtown Marathon, which he set in 2007, by nearly five minutes as he led almost eighteen thousand runners in Saturdays running events. Pierce won the overall men's title with a time of 2 hours 25 minutes and is the first person to win three consecutive Cowtown marathon race titles.

NBC's weight loss relaity TV show "The Biggest Loser" is under scrutiny after making apparently false claims that one of their contestants had run a complete marathon. In fact, according to some of his fellow runners, he was driven at least three miles.
 
   'Biggest Loser' Issues a Marathon Apology for Misleading Viewers (Los Angeles Times)
NBC's weight loss reality show "The Biggest Loser" apologized for an inaccurate segment, which implied that a former contestant had run an entire marathon. In fact, he received a 3-mile van ride from producers so that cameras could capture him crossing the finish line under the 6-hour limit.

   Patrick Flores wins El Paso Marathon (El Paso Times)
Nearly sixteen hundred runners participated in the third annual El Paso Marathon. Patrick Flores, 44, built only a one minute lead by mile twenty but pulled away to earn the overall marathon title.
 
   El Paso Marathon: 26-mile test (El Paso Times)
Participation in the third annual El Paso Marathon events produced record numbers despite the wind-swept course and chilly temperatures. Over fifteen hundred runners clamored through the streets of El Paso led by Patrick Flores who won the overall marathon title.

Nina Kraft of Germany seemed to power through the wet and rainy conditions of the Gasparilla Marathon on Sunday. Kraft, who has won Iron Man races in Florida and Brazil was the overall women's marathon winner with a time of 2 hours 47 minutes and 40 seconds and placed fourth overall.
 
   Miramar Man Overcomes Wind, Rain To Win Gasparilla Marathon (MSNBC)
Ronnie Holassie fought through wind, rain and chilly temperatures to win his second Gasparilla Marathon title with a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 56 seconds. He was nearly fifteen minutes faster than runner-up Chad Byler of Rochester New York

Kenyan runners dominated the series of long distance events at the Kilimanjaro marathon. Kenyan Johson Kibet won the mens marathon title while Patrick Nyangero of Tanzania finished in second place.

Jose Rios of Spain fell behind Kenyan Paul Tergat in the final mile of the sixty-fourth Lake Biwa Marathon. Tergats winning time of 2 hours 10 minutes was well off his normally faster marathon race times.

   Firefighter to burn up London Marathon course (Bromley Times)
Stuart Crispin, 32, will aim to beat the world record for fastest marathon time in full fire-fighting gear, which currently stands at fiave and a half hours. Crispin is running to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, in memory of his friend Mark, who died of cystic fibrosis in 2001.
