The Andrew Jackson Marathon is the oldest marathon in Tennessee. The April 18th event held at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee will use the proceeds to support child abuse prevention. The marathon kicks of at 7 am.

With less than 24 hours to go before the popular Salt Lake City Marathon kicks off, race organizers are having a race of their own to secure the proper permits to even hold the event.

Ben Nganga decided on Friday to compete in the Eisenhower Marathon in Abilene, Kansas and the Kenyan native captured the overall title with a time of 2 hours 33 minutes and 51 seconds.

   Trojan Lettermen’s Spotlight: Leah Thorvilson (UALR Trojans)
Leah Thorvilson started as a sprinter and triple jumper from Minnesota. She wound up a leading University of Arkansas Little Rock to back to back Sun Belt Conference Cross country titles. Most recently she won the Little Rock Marthon in 2 hours 44 minutes and 19 seconds. Thorvilson called it a stepping stone for a hopeful debut at the Olympic Trials in 2012.

Rick Roeber is running barefoot. His barefoot marathon running has brought him some publicity and he has turned that into raising money and awareness for disabled around the world and as a statement of his religous views.

Celebrating twenty years of partnership with the Boston Marathon, Adidas will sell a limited edition Supernova Running shoe. Eight hundred pairs of the shoe are available for purchase for $100.

   Jordanians place well in Dead Sea Marathon (The Jordan Times)
The sixteenth running of the Dead Sea Marathon showed strong finishes from Jordanian runners. Suleiman Zboun captured the overall title with a new course record of 2 hours 11 minutes and 14 seconds. Jordan's Kholoud Atieh took home top honors for the women's field with a time of 2 hours 51 minutes and 39 seconds.
