With an altered race route and new colored race numbers, organizers of the Blue Nose Marathon feel they have corrected the hitches in last years set up. Race organizers are hoping that number reach nine thousand participants this year.

The Competitor Group which produces the Rock N Roll Marathon series has signed a two year deal with Pacific Health Laboratories. The marathon series will use Pacific Health Lab's FORZE GPS line of nutrition bars for the 2009 and 2010 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

The Brookings Marathon in South Dakota will host it's fortieth annual marathon this coming Saturday and nearly 140 runners have signed up for the 26.2 mile race. The scenic course will cover neighborhoods, parks and bike paths.

   Coffin captures 31st annual Fredericton Marathon (The Daily Gleaner)
With numbers nearly twenty percent higher than last year, the inclement weather did not seem to be a factor for the Fredericton Marathon. Alex Coffin rolled to the victory in 2 hours 47 minutes and 34 seconds.
 
 Geneva Marathon

   Geneva Marathon, few surprises, but could be last one (Geneva Lunch)
Tsige Germa, Ethiopia, won the Geneva Marathon with a time of 2 hours 19 minutes and 49 seconds. The women's overall winner was Reulen Stijntje who ran a time of 2 hours 52 minutes and 47 seconds

   Marathon runners stay home - race is for walkers only (Arkansas Democrat Gazette)
WE WALK will debut at 7 am this coming Saturday in Saint Joseph Minnesota as the first walkers only marathon. The race has a nine hour time limit and will travel along the Lake Wobegon Regional Trail.

   Bayshore Marathon events could have 5,000 entrants (Traverse City Record-Eagle)
The Bayshore Marathon was capped at seventeen hundred runners and the half-marathon was capped at fifteen hundred runners. Both races filled within seven weeks. With only two weeks to go until race day the 10K has over twelve hundred runners and still climbing.

   Cueno wins women’s Fargo Marathon (The Dickinson Press)
Nicole Cueno, 29, claimed the fifteen hundred dollar prize for first place in the fifth annual Fargo Marathon with a time of 2 hours 53 minutes and 15 seconds.
 
 Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon

   Buckentine, Christen win Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon (St. Cloud Times)
Joe Buckentine, St. Cloud, won the overall marathon race and Kalli Christen,St. Cloud, won the women's marathon race at Lake Wobegon Trail Saturday

   Mom sets record to win Mississauga Marathon (The Mississauga News)
Krista Duchene won the women's marathon title in the Mississauga Marathon with a record time of 2 hours 51 minutes and 40 seconds. The overall marathon winner was Antony Gitau, Kenya, with a time of 2 hours 38 minutes and 46 seconds.

   Windy Conditions Hindered, Then Aided Runners At The Mini (Indy Star)
The largest half-marathon in the country gave runners a windy start and chilly temperaturs. Festus Langat won the Indy Mini with a time of 1 hour 2 minutes and 51 seconds. Janet Cherobon won the women's race for the fourth year in a row with a time of 1 hour 10 minutes and 59 seconds.

Patrick Ivuti, Kenya, took the lead for a second time and held on for the win in course record fashion at the Prague Marathon with a time of 2 hours 7 minutes and 48 seconds. His time was more than a minute ahead of the previous course record and only two seconds shy of his career best.
 
   Kiptanui Sets Course Record To Win Prague Marathon (GreenwichTime.com)
Eliud Kiptanui, 26 of Kenya, set a new course record at the Prague Marathon with a time of 2 hours 5 minutes and 39 seconds.
 
 Skopje Marathon

   Sreten Nimkovic, Marija Vrajic - winners of Skopje Marathon 2009 (Macedonia International News Agency)
Europe Day in Macedonia's capital city was marked by Sreten Nimkovic, Serbia, winning the Skopje Marathon with a time of 2 hours 29 minutes and 9 seconds. The overall women's marathon winner was Marija Vrajic of Croatia.

 Air Force Marathon

   AETC seeks runners for 2009 U.S. Air Force Marathon (Air Education and Training Command)
The thirteenth annual 2009 U.S. Air Force Marathon takes place on September 19 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton Ohio and the Air Education and Training Command will select two men and two women to represent the AETC in the marathon race which is open to the public.
 
 Fargo Marathon
