 Brookings Marathon

   Perfect weather highlights 40th Brookings Marathon (Brookings Register)
Near perfect conditions greeted runners of the fortieth annual Brookings Marathon. Chuck Engle of Dublin Ohio enjoyed the scenic course and the weather by winning the overall marathon title with a time of 2 hours 39 minutes and 21 seconds.

   A Marathon is not Enough: Dean Karnazes to Run 100 Miles to L.A. and Then Run the Los Angeles Marathon (PRNewswire)
Dean Karnazes, 46, will run from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles and then run the City of Los Angeles Marathon on Monday morning. Karnazes, who grew up in southern California, reported that he has a fondness for the Los Angeles marathon due to memories of his father running the race during its inaugural year.

Minnesota is stepping up to the proverbial marathon plate with its offerings. Two first-time marathons popped up in the state and that has put a little bit of a strain on Grandma's marathon which may not fill to capacity for the first time in fifteen years.

More than twelve-thousand, four-hundred runners registered for the Cleveland Marathon. Jack Staph, race director, said that the registration numbers are a record for the event.

Marco Capelli had finished second in the Delaware Marathon in 2006 and 2007. The newly designed 2009 marathon course proved to be a winning combination as Capelli surged ahead at the 10 mile mark to win with a time of 2 hours, 40 minutes and 13 seconds.

   Stevick sticks to it for 4th win at Capital City Marathon (The Olympian)
Jesse Stevick, 27, of Olympia, won the Capital City Marathon for the fourth time in 2 hours 40 minutes and 9 seconds. Second place was nearly 10 minutes behind the four-time champion.
 
 Cleveland Marathon
  Post-Race Review/ Results
   Ohio natives claim top prizes in Cleveland Marathon (The News-Herald)
With a record number of participants at the Cleveland Marathon, it was a native Ohioan who ran away with the overall marathon title. Joe Stansloski, 23, who now resides in Tulsa won the marathon with a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 37 seconds.
 
 Colfax Marathon

   First-timers win at Colfax Marathon (Denver Post)
Heater Urata won the woman's title at the Colfax Marathon in Colorado with a time of 3 hours 13 minutes and 48 seconds. The man's overall champion went to Matt Kempton with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes.
 
 Green Bay Marathon

   Kiprotich gladly waits for win at Green Bay Marathon (Post Crescent)
Geoffrey Kiprotich won the Green Bay Marathon with a time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 6 seconds. Race organizers were not sure if he had won. One of the lead runners fell on the course and the lead vehicle went back for that runner and lost the new race leader which caused the mix-up at the finish line

   Morseman wins Run for the Red; Haas repeats as women's winner (Pocono Record)
Bryan Morseman, 23, of Addison New York trains in a region similar to the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. The training seemed to pay off for Morseman as he won the overall marathon title at the Run for the Red with a time of 2 hours 23 minutes and 59 seconds.
 
 Riga Marathon

   Belarusian runners take top honors at Riga Marathon (The Baltic Course)
Oleg Gur, of Belarus, won the Riga Marathon with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes and 35 seconds. Katarina Demidova won the woman's overall marathon title with a time of 2 hours 47 minutes and 30 seconds.
 
 Rockford Marathon
  Post-Race Review/ Results
   Polish man wins Rockford Marathon (Rockford Register Star)
Janusz Sarnicki won the second annual Rockford Marathon after finishing as runner up in the inaugural race in 2008. His time of 2 hours, 36 minutes and 22 seconds was eight seconds faster than the winning time in 2008.
 
 Sugarloaf Marathon

   France native Helmlinger runs to victory at Sugarloaf Marathon (Bangor Daily News)
Near perfect conditions and a nearly flat to downhill course allowed first time Maine visitor Gabriel Helmlinger to win the overall Sugarloaf Maarathon with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 11 seconds.

 Blue Nose International Marathon

   MacLennan wins fourth Blue Nose Marathon title (The Chronicle Herald)
David MacLennan won his fourth Blue Nose International Marathon title. His winning time was 2 hours 36 minutes and 5 seconds. Jen Nicholson was the top woman finisher with a time of 3 hours and 7 seconds.
 
 Capital City Marathon

   Young and old come out to run Capital City Marathon (The Olympian)
Over sixteen hundred runners will be on the winding roads of Olympia starting at 7 am. Race Director Lesley Roberts has asked driver to be patient for athletes who are participating in this one day 26.2 mile event.

   Amos Choge wins Mombasa marathon (Kenya Broadcasting Company)
Amos Choge outlasted the defending champion, Peter Mutua, of the Mombasa International Marathon by winning with a time of 2 hours 13 minutes and 44 seconds. Mutua finished nearly four minutes behind Choge. The women's winner, Nelly Jeptoo, won with a course record time of 2 hours 54 minutes and 38 seconds
 
 Ogden Marathon

   Wold, Judd win Ogden Marathon (Deseret News)
Seth Wold, 25 ,of Salt Lake City took the title at the Ogden Marathon with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes and 51 seconds. Anna Judd, 39, of South Ogden made up over four minutes in the final seven mile to eclipse Sarah Long for the win with a time of 2 hours 58 minutes and 22 seconds.
