 Bob Potts Heritage Rail Trail Marathon
  Post-Race Review/ Results
   Big day at Bob Potts Marathon (Daily Record)
It was a perfect day for the inaugural Bob Potts Marathon. Two men from Ohio, Chuck Engle and Feliciano Vega Aguilar opened up an early lead and never looked back. Engle took home top honors with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 34 seconds with Aguilar following in 2 hours 44 minutes and 37 seconds.

   Police officer wins Edinburgh Marathon (BBC News)
Martin Williams, a police officer, wond the Edinburgh Marathon with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes and 24 seconds in only his third marathon. Holly Rush, Bradford, took top honors in the women's marathon with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 38 seconds.

Martin Williams found an extra gear with two miles to go in the Edinburgh Marathon to take the overall marathon title over Andi Jones. Williams finished his third marathon with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes and 24 seconds with Jones finishing just 24 seconds behind.

   12,000 have Edinburgh Marathon licked (The Scotsman)
Nearly twelve-thousand participants completed the grueling 26.2 mile course in Edinburgh despite the highest temperatures of the year. Race director Neil Kilgour stated that the seventh Edinburgh marathon was a huge success.
 
 Minneapolis Marathon

   More than 1,500 turn out for first Minneapolis Marathon (Minnesota Public Radio)
Tom Tissel, 41, of St.Paul, and Jessica Pink, 29, of Hopkins had some large advantages that the finish line of the inaugural Minneapolis Marathon. Tissel took the tape with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 57 seconds, a fifteen minute margin of victory. Pink would win the women's race by over nine minutes.

Tom Tissel, 41, won the inaugural Minneapolis Marathon with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 57 seconds. It was Tissel's third marathon in the month of May. Jessica Pink, 29, took the overall women's marathon title with a time of 3 hours 4 minutes and 16 seconds.
 
 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

   Moroccan El Boumlili wins Rock n Roll Marathon (San Diego Union-Tribune)
Khalid El Boumlili won the the twelfth annual Rock N Roll Marathon with a time of 2 hours 11 minutes and 16 seconds. Boumlili pulled away from a large pack at the 7 mile mark and never looked back. Yuliya Gromova, Russian, defended her overall women's marathon title with a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 36 seconds.
 
 Sao Paulo International Marathon

   Chelimo, Moreira, win Sao Paulo marathon (Taiwan News)
Elias Kemboi Chelimo, Kenya, won the Sao Paulo Marathon with a time of 2 hours 13 minutes and 59 seconds in windy conditions. Marizete Moreira, Brazil, won the women's Sao Paulo Marathon title with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 45 seconds.
 
 Stockholm Marathon

   Kipkemei wins Stockholm Marathon (MSN)
Paul Kipkemei led all comers to a Kenya 1-2 finish at the Stockholm Marathon. Kipkemei finished the 26.2 mile race with a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 35 seconds. It was the fastest time in the last four years for the thirty-one year old marathon.

Well over thirty-thousand liters of water will be consumed during the Edinburgh Marathon. Temperatures are expected to climb into the lower seventies which will make marathon weekend the hottest of the year so far.

Phurba Tamang won the seventh annual Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon after finishing as the runner-up in the 2008 edition. Tamang finished the race, which starts at the Everest base camp at 5300 meters, in a time of 3 hours 40 minutes and 46 seconds.
 
 Newport Marathon

   2009 Newport Marathon results (Run Oregon)
Tom Clarke of Anthem Arizona won the Newport Marathon with a time of 2 hours 32 minutes and 11 seconds. He was followed by Stephen Clarke of New Mexico with a time of 2 hours 38 minutes and 31 seconds.
 
 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon

   Browne 'win' would be Yankee doodle dandy at Rock N Roll Marathon (San Diego Union-Tribune)
The Rock n Roll Marathon has been dominated by Kenyans over the past eleven years with only one American placing in the top ten. Dan Browne hopes to rewrite history by "going for the win".

Sammy Wanjiru has pulled his name from the entrants list for this summer's World Athletics Championship. Wajiru has opted to race in Berlin where he intends to break the current marathon world record.

Four wheel chair participants from Orange County finished in the top 15 at the Los Angeles Marathon. Among other notable finishers was Katherine Jobe who won the 90 to 98 age group with a marathon time of 4 hours 56 minutes and 8 seconds.
