A quick-thinking Ohio police officer pulled a movie stunt-like move Sunday morning as he stopped an out-of-control Land Rover away from a pack of marathon runners after its driver had a seizure.

Patrick Russel of Eau Claire won the Eau Claire Marathon with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 3 seconds. Russell had hoped for a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes to use the marathon as a training run for next months Grandma's Marathon

Matt Hooley won the Eugene Marathon with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes and 38 seconds nearly eight minutes ahead of second place finisher Chad Worthen who ran a time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 36 seconds.

Heavy rains pounded the Frederick Marathon on Sunday for the seventh annual running of the race. Dickson Mercer, 27, won the overall men's title with a time of 2 hours 37 minutes and 3 seconds.

Sergio Reyes wone his first marathon on Sunday with a near course record time of 2 hours 20 minutes and 25 seconds narrowly missing the record by 15 seconds.

Drew Best finished first in the Providence Rhode Island Marathon with a time of 2 hours 35 minutes and 19 seconds. His time was a new course record as he raced past second place finisher Danny Gough of Portsmouth.
