   Penniless Kenyan Befriends Timor President, Wins Marathon (Reuters Africa)
Philimon Rotich, of Kenya, landed in Dili airport with no money for a visa or a place to stay before the Dili Marathon, but as luck would have it, the President of East Timor happened to be at the airport at the same time and invited Rotich to stay at his house. Rotich went on to win the Marathon and the $5,000 prize.
 
   Kenyan Tops First East Timor Marathon (IC Publications)
In the inaugural Dili Marathon, to commemorate East Timor's eigth year anniversary of independence from Indonesia, Kenyan Philemon Rotich won in 2:34:57. Women's race winner Lucie Hardiman, of Australia, claimed the race to be "tremendous" and will be recommending it to as many people as possible.
