 Kona Marathon

   No Stopping Gillette from Kona Marathon Repeat (West Hawaii Today)
Just Gillette repeated at the Kona Marathon champion with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 6 seconds despite cramps over the last four miles which slowed his pace from the five minute range to the lower seven minute range.
 
 Kuala Lumpur Marathon

   Kuala Lumpur Marathon Runners left thirsty and frustrated (New Straits Times)
While Kenyans were busy claiming the top three places in the overall marathon, the top runner in the Kuala Lumpur five-kilometer race took some research to find our the real local winner and many runners found a shortfall of water on the course.
 
   Kenyans Dominate Inaugural Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon (Bernama)
Juluis Karinga ran his first marathon and celebrated by winning the inaugural Kuala Lumpur Marathon with a time of 2 hours 17 minutes and 2 seconds as Kenyans swept the top 3 positions in the race.
 
 Mont Blanc Marathon

   Mont Blanc Marathon an example of true sportsmanship (Chamonix Resort News)
Clear and sunny skies greeted fifteen-hundred runners for the Mont Blanc Marathon in the town of Chamonix. First and second place were separated by one second at Christophe Assailly won the hot and hilly marathon with a time of 4 hours 3 minutes and 23 seconds.
 
 RIO DE JANEIRO CITY MARATHON

   RIO DE JANEIRO MARATHON FEATURES OLYMPIC ATHLETES’ RELAY RACE IN SUPPORT OF RIO 2016 BID (International Sports Movement)
Brazilian Olympic athletes showed up at the Rio De Janeiro Marathon to support the countries bid for the 2016 Olympic games. Antonio Marcos Pereira won the marathon event in 2 hours 17 minutes and 11 seconds
 
 Rock 'n' Roll Seattle Marathon

   Peter Omae wins Rock 'n' Roll Marathon (The Seattle Times)
Peter Omae had nearly finished the Rock N Roll Seattle Marathon when he began looking over his shoulder expecting the strong running of Peter Gilmore to overtake him for the marathon title. Omae won in a time of 2 hours 18 minutes and 17 seconds. Gilmore was just thirty-five seconds back for second place.

   Kenyan runners rule Kuala Lumpur Marathon (The Star)
The Kuala Lumpur Marathon was dominated by Kenyan runners as they claimed the top three finishing spots. Juluis Karinga won the men's race in a time of 2 hours 17 minutes and 2 seconds.

   The Highest Marathon in America Runs Again (The Yellowstone News)
After a successful 2008 marathon, the Madison Marathon, which runs through the Gravely Mountains, will be held on Sunday August 2. The marathon boasts being the highest marathon in the states with a starting line over nine-thousand feet.

Hal Koerner won the Western States 100 mile endurance race for the second straight year with a time of sixteen hours and 25 minutes. The race began at 5 am on Saturday and traversed one of the most difficult terrains in the country.

Kevin Brosi has run the marathon at least one-hundred times. His North Olympic Discovery Marathon on May 30th was his one-hundredth marathon overall. Brosi has started his quest to finish two-hundred marathons as part of his fun on the weekends.

Michele Suszek ran the Nashville marathon in what she would call "an embarassing time" of 2 hours and 53 minutes. She changed her coach, her hometown and her training program and netted a winning time of 2 hours 38 minutes and 37 seconds at this years Seattle Rock N Roll marathon

Thomas McGrath cried as he crossed the line at the first Fallen 4 Marathon with a time of 2 hours 50 minutes and 58 seconds. McGrath stated that his achilles tendon nagged him while enduring some of the larger climbs on the course
 
 Kuala Lumpur Marathon

   Kuala Lumpur Set For Biggest Marathon Race On Sunday (Bernama.com)
Kuala Lumpur will host the countries largest race event which begins at Dataran Merdeka on Sunday. The twelve-thousand, five hundred participants will chase the largest cash award offered by the marathon. Lawrence Kiptoo Saina is expected to steal top honors in the men's marathon.

Starting at midnight, hundreds of workers will begin the final set up of band stages, sound systems, portable toilets, timing clocks and tents. The hustle will result in an on time start for the 7 AM Rock N Roll Seattle Marathon.

The 2009 Rock N Roll Seattle Marathon winds from Tukwilla to Qwest Field with well over thirty bands lining the course to keep the runners motivated. The 26.2 mile event kicks off at 7 am on Saturday.
