   India's marathon man sets new record with 91st marathon at Bob Potts Marathon (Sify.news)
Ashis Roy, is the first Asian man above 75 years of age to run three marathons in a month. He completed the Bob Potts Rail Trail marathon, his ninety-first 26.2 mile race, with a time of 6 hours and 27 minutes. The seventy-seven year old hopes to complete his 100th marathon before 2010.

   Big day at Bob Potts Marathon (Daily Record)
It was a perfect day for the inaugural Bob Potts Marathon. Two men from Ohio, Chuck Engle and Feliciano Vega Aguilar opened up an early lead and never looked back. Engle took home top honors with a time of 2 hours 41 minutes and 34 seconds with Aguilar following in 2 hours 44 minutes and 37 seconds.

   Michael Herlihy Wins Biggest Marathon Cork Has Ever Seen (Athletics Ireland)
Michael Herlihy won the Cork City Marathon with a time of 2 hours 30 minutes and 36 seconds. The 28-year old was running in his first ever marathon. The first female, Lucy Brennan, crossed the line with a time of 2 hours 51 minutes and 25 seconds.

Race organizers have admitted that checking stock of water at marathon aide stations would have allowed them to handle the lack of water during the race in a more appropriate manner. A large monetary reward has been offered for the arrest and conviction of the responsible party.

Nearly twelve-thousand participants completed the grueling 26.2 mile course in Edinburgh despite the highest temperatures of the year. Race director Neil Kilgour stated that the seventh Edinburgh marathon was a huge success.

Phurba Tamang won the seventh annual Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon after finishing as the runner-up in the 2008 edition. Tamang finished the race, which starts at the Everest base camp at 5300 meters, in a time of 3 hours 40 minutes and 46 seconds.

Tom Tissel, 41, won the inaugural Minneapolis Marathon with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 57 seconds. It was Tissel's third marathon in the month of May. Jessica Pink, 29, took the overall women's marathon title with a time of 3 hours 4 minutes and 16 seconds.
 
   More than 1,500 turn out for first Minneapolis Marathon (Minnesota Public Radio)
Tom Tissel, 41, of St.Paul, and Jessica Pink, 29, of Hopkins had some large advantages that the finish line of the inaugural Minneapolis Marathon. Tissel took the tape with a time of 2 hours 42 minutes and 57 seconds, a fifteen minute margin of victory. Pink would win the women's race by over nine minutes.
