Hutch DeLoach won the 135-mile Badwater Ultra Marathon with a time of 23 hours 39 minutes and 18 seconds missing the course record set in 2007 by just under one hour.

   Marathoner hits all 50 states (Kansas City Star)
Carol Goslin of Kansas City Missouri ran in the Charlevoix Marathon in Michigan in June. That 26.2 mile race marked the end of a one-thousand, three-hundred and ten mile goal that Goslin set in 1998. She finished a marathon in all fifty states. Goslin joins the ranks of over four-hundred runners nationwide who have accomplished this feat.

The world's toughest foot race is the Badwater Ultramarathon and it starts today in Death Valley. It is a 135 mile run from Death Valley to the midway point of Mt. Whitney.

   Heidt Claims Victory And Course Record & Greenwood Takes Women’s Title (Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run)
Saturday, July 11th marked the twenty-first annual running of the Knee Knackering North Shore Trail Run. This year featured the second slowest median finishing time ever.
 
 Missoula Marathon

   Helena native wins Missoula Marathon in record time (Missoulian)
Kiefer Hahn, who is a fitness trainer in Missoula, smashed his own course record on Sunday in the Missoula Marathon. Hahn waited until the last possible moment to register and never looked at his watch winning the marathon with a time of 2 hours 33 minutes and 17 seconds.
 
   Records fall at 2009 Missoula marathon (KECI)
Race organizers reported that cool weather on Sunday led to record setting times for the third annual Missoula Marathon. Kiefer Hahn of Missoula won the men's marathon with a time of 2 hours 33 minutes and 21 seconds. Annie Thiessen set a new women's marathon record on her way to winning with a time of 2 hours 57 minutes and 45 seconds.

   Armymen sweep Thane Marathon (DNA Read the World)
Nine of the top ten men in the Thane Varsha Monsoon Marathon were army men. The field was dominated by Deepchand Saharan with a time of 2 hours 27 minutes and 4 seconds. Saharan was nearly 12 minutes off the national record.

Jamie Donaldson experienced 124 degrees at last years Badwater Ultra-marathon at the thirty-fourth mile marker. The searing temperatures did not stop her from winning the race by shaving nearly thirty minutes off the previous course record.
 
 Grandfather Mountain Marathon

   King and Queen of the Mountain Crowned (GoBlueRidge.com)
Stevie Cowie, of Greensboro, won the Grandfather Mountain Marathon with an overall time of 2 hours 46 minutes and 31 seconds en route to being crowned King of the Mountain for the lowest overall time in three endurance events set just outside of Boone North Carolina.

Organizers of the Missoula Marathon report that cool weather led to fast times for this years marathon, having both men and women setting new course records.

Participants from around the nation showed up for a 6 am marathon start in the Garden City of Missoula Montana. Saturday night allowed the city to host a non-competitive 5 kilometer race in conjunction with the marathon. Record numbers were produced for each race

Registration for the seventh edition of the Mumbai Marathon, scheduled for January 17, 2010, began on July 9th and the entry fees have nearly doubled for the marathon and half marathon. The increase in fees is blamed on the use of a new "chip" timing system.

The normal protocol for the Monsoon Marathon calls for torrential rains during the forty kilometer race. The rain gods proved to be absent from this years race which marked the twentieth anniversary of the race and the first time in it's history that rain was absent.

   Reifsnyder to direct D.C. marathons (Washington Times)
Bill Reifsnyder is slated to be the new director of the National Marathon and Half-marathon in Washington D.C. The two-time U.S. Marathon champion brings a unique skill set to the directors position and will work to fulfill the goal of making the race a national and international success.

The city of Los Angeles is hoping that it's new race course would start at Dodger Stadium and end in Santa Monica. The course used in 2009 was considered a disappointment and race organizers hope the new route will make amends.

Shawn Grantham used the Fallen 4 Marathon and relay as a backdrop to propose to his girlfriend Leeanna Nagel. It would be the competitive couples first marathon and after 4 hours and 20 minutes together, Grantham dropped to one knee and proposed.
