The thirty-fifth annual Bix 7 road race marked the return of Meb Keflezighi to the running scene. Keflezighi, returning from a hip fracture, the 2004 Olympic Marathon silver medalist, ran the seven mile course in 32 minutes and 25 seconds solidifying his return to road racing.

Andrew Cook of Flower Mound Texas lead all twenty-one thousand runners across the finish line at the 32 edition of the San Francisco Marathon. Cooks time of 2 hours 26 minutes and 32 seconds was good enough for his third victory in the San Francisco race.

David Yego, Kenya, called the Deseret Morning News Marathon "tough". "too tough". But he was the first to cross the finish line as he pulled away at mile 19 to win with a time of 2 hours 25 minutes and 42 seconds

   Marathon moxie: Scott survives fatigue, pain to claim women's crown at Deseret News Marathon (Deseret News)
Allie Scott struggled the final three miles but managed a sub 3-hour marathon victory at the Deseret New Marathon on Friday. Her time of 2 hours 56 minutes and 41 seconds outdistanced Julie Thomas, 2nd place, who finished with a time of 3 hours 2 minutes and 11 seconds.

You had to be a fast runner to get into the Houston Marathon and Half Marathon last weekend. The half-marathon filled to capacity of 11,000 entrants in less than 24-hours and the marathon filled to 11,000 entrants by the end of Sunday night.

Organizers of the 34th Johnstown marathon had previously announced that the marathon would be canceled for 2009. Sharon Jones, Director of the YMCA, says they are about forty-five hundred dollars short of the goal of twelve-thousand to move the race forward. The race lost it's key corporate sponsor and that setback has put organizers into an overdrive fund raising mode.

Carrollton Marathon is being changed for the marathon's 10th anniversary. The monotonous eight laps around a five kilometer course will become something, race director, Craig Douglas, thinks will add a little more "zest".

Allie Scott, 22 year old from Salt Lake City, prevailed from an agonizing final three miles to win the Deseret News Marathon. She was the only female runner to finish the race in sub 3 hour times.
 
   Kenyan Finishes Strong To Claim Deseret News Marathon Victory (Deseret News)
David Yego wins the Deseret News Marathon after trailing the leader for the first 18 miles. On mile 19, Yego took the lead and never looked back.

   Cowie Wins The 2009 Grandfather Mountain Marathon (Blue Ridge Parkway Guide)
Steve Cowie from Greensboro North Carolina won the forty-second annual Grandfather Mountain marathon with a time of 2 hours 46 minutes and 31 seconds. Cowie, a civil engineer, trained about one-hundred miles a week getting ready for the event.

   Oswestry runner 'hits wall' in first marathon at Great Wall Marathon (Advertizer)
Joshua Alston ran the Great Wall Marathon as his first marathon. The marathon has over three-thousand, seven-hundred steps along the 26.2 mile course and Alston won his age group with a time of 4 hours, 34 minutes and placed 27th out of more than 800 runners.

The Houston Marathon closed open registration for all events in just two and one half days after registration opened. Steven Karpas stated that people who were unable to get into the race last year seemed to rush to get into the race this year.

The 24th annual City of Los Angeles Marathon has been unanimously voted by the city council to be moved back to March on the 21st. The new date and "stadium to sea" route is hoped to bring in a new record number of runners after a decline in participation in 2009

With registration for the Houston Marathon filled to capacity and the hysteria over, at least until race day, many runners sat up late to hit the registration lines at precisely at 12:01 am. The overwhelming surge in registrants cause the sign-up site to crash. The transfer clause enacted for the 2010 race caused a flurry of registrants to stay up for the early morning registration to ensure their opportunity to snatch one of the twenty-two thousand spots.
