   Lake Tahoe Marathon Offers 78.6 Mile and 124.6 Mile Ultra Runs (YubaNet.com)
The Ninth Annual Lake Tahoe Marathon will conclude on September 27 after offering several choices for ultra runners and marathon runners. The world-record for the fastest three day marathon was set by South African Oosthuizen with a time of 8 hours 11 minutes and 8 seconds.

The second annual Hyderabad Marathon will take place on August 30th. Events include the 42 kilometer marathon, 21 kilometer half-marathon, and the 10 kilometer race. The marathon will start at 5 am.

Caroline White is a 1st Lieutenant who has pole vaulted and jumped from airplanes. In 2007 she was talked into running her first marathon. She shattered her own expectations by running 3 hours and 9 minutes.

   Rainy Weather Doesn't Deter Sunday Humpy's Marathon (KTUU.com)
Cloudy skies dominated the horizon for Humpy's Marathon on Sunday. The weather didn't stop more than two-thousand runners from completing races. Vin Robinson took home top honors in the marathon with a time of 2 hours, 56 minutes and 14 seconds.
 
   Cropper Wins Third Straight Humpy's Marathon (Anchorage Daily News)
Debbie Cropper will return to Willow Crest Elementary with one of the best summer stories for her students to hear. She won her third Humpy's Classic Marathon with a time of 3 hours 14 minutes and 9 seconds.

   Eugene Runner Sixth in 10,000; Rupp Eighth (The Statesman Journal)
Galen Rupp ran a season best of 27 minutes and 37 seconds in the IAAF World Championship 10,000 meter on Monday night. Dathan Ritzenhein placed sixth with a personal best of 27 minutes and 22 seconds. Kenenisa Bekele, Ethiopia, finished first and remained unbeaten in the ten-thousand meters for his fourth world title with a time of 26 minutes and 46 seconds.

   Hansons-Brooks Runner to Compete in World Championships (The Source)
The Hansons-Brooks Distance Project had it's first Olympic men's marathon finisher in 2008. The Rochester Hills-based group will send it's first women's competitor to the 12th IAAF World Championship Marathon to be completed on August 23rd in Berlin. Desiree Davila will join four other women in the marathon final.

More than six-thousand runners from forty-six countries raced the 26.2 mile course of the Helsinki City Marathon on Saturday. The event which started at 3 pm snarled traffic past 9 pm along the main street of Mannerheimintie.

   Radcliffe Takes Familiar Path to the Finish Line at New York City Half-Marathon (The New York Times)
Paula Radcliffe raced down seventh avenue to capture the New York City Half-Marathon title with at time of 1 hour, 9 minutes and 45 seconds to complete her return after a nine month layoff. American Ryan Hall finished third in the men's half marathon in 1 hour 2 minutes and 35 seconds.

   Carpenter Goes Unrivaled at Pikes Peak Marathon (The Gazette)
Matt Carpenter continued his dominance of the Pikes Peak Marathon with his tenth win and fourth consecutive title with a time of 3 hours, 37 minutes and 2 seconds. The top contender to beat Carpenter did not show for the race.
 
   Falls Fail to Deter Ortiz, 45, in Pikes Peak Marathon (The Denver Post)
Anita Ortiz, 45 of Eagle Colorado, won the Pikes Peak Marathon on Sunday despite two falls that left her with bloody legs and a twisted ankle. The seven-thousand, eight hundred foot ascent left Ortiz smiling after setting the age group record for a 45 to 49 year old woman with a 4 hour and 28 minute marathon.

Brenton Buston finished the Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon for the seventeenth year while Bill Coffelt ran the marathon for the 26th time in a row. And for a race that involved 150 injuries, ten of which needed stretches, streaks mean so much more
