The Boston Marathon Fundraising Program is running strong despite the recession. Nearly sixty charities benefited from the increase in giving of over four-hundred thousand dollars from 2008 to 2008 for a total of 3.7 million.

Jim 'Manic' Mundy will enter his two-hundredth marathon as he wears race number 200 on his chest during the New Forest Marathon. Mundy completed 51 marathons in 2008 and has run 26.2 miles every weekend since notching his 100th marathon in 2007

One-hundred years after the start of the first Guernsey Marathon, which involved only four men, Steve Dawes claimed the renewed marathon title with a winning time of 2 hours 43 minutes and 54 seconds
