Berlin Marathon Race Director Weds

The race director of the real, Berlin Marathon, Mark Milde, married his fiancée Anja Bayer on Dec. 10, according to a press release sent today by SCC-Running, the organization which manages the race. Milde, 32, a long-time Race Results Weekly subscriber, was married in a ceremony held at Schloß Wulkow, a castle east of the German capital.

In March, 2004, Milde took over the top post at Berlin from his father, Horst, the founding race director. Berlin is the second-largest marathon in Europe in terms of finishers: 30,584 runners crossed the finish line at the Brandenburg Gate last September.

Anja, who is also 32 and a recreational runner liker her new husband, works as a pharmacist.
