American Justin Young Gets Invited Status at Tokyo Marathon

Justin Young, who ran a 2:13:54 personal best at the Fortis Marathon Rotterdam last year, was given invited status at the new Tokyo Marathon on March 22, a rare designation for an American man. "Opportunities like racing at the Tokyo Marathon do not come often; some runners never have an opportunity like this," Young said through a media release. "So the fact that this is something special is what I have focused on during the months of training leading up to the race. My preparations have been exceptional, and I have built upon my fitness each and every year of my marathon career." He added: "Everything is set up to have a major breakthrough. It's just a matter of believing that anything is possible." Young said he would like to qualify for the IAAF World Championships in Athletics.
