ARMY TEN-MILER SHADOW RUNS COORDINATED OVERSEAS
WASHINGTON, DC – The Army's annual 10-mile race in Washington,
DC has long held significance to both civilian runners and military runners
alike. This year the Army Ten-Miler and Co-Lead sponsor, KBR, have teamed
up to coordinate seven "shadow runs" in Iraq and Kuwait.
The "shadow runs" will be conducted in conjunction with the
official, 8-Oct-06 Army Ten-Miler race in Washington, DC at the Pentagon.
"These shadow runs demonstrate the Army's esprit de corps and enable
soldiers to experience a little slice of home," commented Jim Vandak, Race
Director of the Army Ten-Miler.
The press will have the opportunity to address shadow
organizers and participants from Camp Victory in a live video conference at
the Army Ten-Miler Press Event on Friday, October 6 at the Crystal Gateway
Marriott in Arlington, VA. TANDBERG, a Major Sponsor, along with Freedom
Calls will facilitate the video conference.
