           The National Black Marathoners' Association (NBMA) 
       Selects the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon for its 2007 Event. 


The National Black Marathoners' Association has selected the 30th Annual 
Rite-Aid Cleveland Marathon, Half Marathon, and 10K 
(www.blackmarathoners.org/) for our 2007 event. This event will be 
held on May 20, 2007. 

"We're excited and proud that the National Black Marathoners' Association 
has chosen the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon & 10K for its annual event in 
2007," said Ralph Staph, race director. "Next year is our 30th anniversary 
and we look forward to showing off our city and our race to NBMA." 

The marathon has the distinction of being one of the oldest and greatest 
racing traditions in the Midwest. It is one of the 50 oldest marathons in 
the US. Over the years, they have put more than 250,000 runners on the 
streets of Cleveland and given back more than a million dollars to charity 
in their community. 

The Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier. Both the 
Marathon and the 10K are USATF certified courses. The Rite Aid Cleveland 
Marathon & 10K is a member of Running USA, a national organization for the 
road racing industry. 

The National Black Marathoners' Association Mission 

The National Black Marathoners' Association (NBMA) is a not-for-profit 
organization. It is open to everyone, regardless of your athletic ability 
or previous marathon experience. Our objectives are to 

 - Encourage Black Americans and others to pursue a healthy life-style 
through long distance running and walking.
 - Serve as a vehicle for Black American distance runners across the nation 
to meet in mass at a single marathon.
 - Provide scholarships to deserving high school boy and girl distance 
runners. Donations for the scholarship fund may be made at
