FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CARLSBAD MARATHON AND HALF MARATHON
ANNOUNCES ITS LIVE ENTERTAINMENT LINE-UP
CARLSBAD, Calif. (January 4, 2008) – Runners, walkers, volunteers and
spectators will hear more than the pounding of thousands of feet at the
Carlsbad Marathon and Half Marathon, scheduled for Sunday, January 20,
2008. Over 23 live bands will help set the pace by providing a variety of
motivating melodies along the 26.2 and 13.1-mile courses.
"For many of the participants, the Carlsbad Marathon is more of a
life-changing experience than a competitive race," said Lynn Flanagan, race
director and president of In Motion, Inc., the event organizer. "Music,
scenery and a festive atmosphere not only provide a motivational boost to
the runners but can even help make it one of the most memorable days in
their lives."
The music will include genres ranging from rock and roll to jazz, reggae,
blue grass, classical and just about everything in between. The
entertainment will start with the San Diego Women's Drum Circle which will
be staged just a drum beat away from the start and finish line (Marron and
Jefferson). A local favorite, the Langen Brothers Band will play their
classic rock and roll tunes from the comfort of their own front yard
(Carlsbad Boulevard near Chestnut). Breez'n, one of San Diego County's most
popular classic and contemporary rock bands, will jam at the finish line
party and will likely keep the runners on their feet well after they cross
the finish line.
The bands will start to perform when the first pack of runners reaches
their stage and will continue until the last participant passes, roughly
from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., depending on where the band is located on the
course. The public is encouraged to enjoy the free entertainment and cheer
on the runners.
