Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon
Popular Landmark Event Changes Ownership,
Provides Infrastructure for Growth
(CHICAGO June 12, 2008) – The Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon, one of
Chicago's marquee half marathons held each fall, has been acquired by US
Road Sports and Entertainment Group (US Road Sports), based in Dallas,
Texas.
Commenting on the addition of the Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon to
its family of events, Greg Laird, president of US Road Sports, shared, "We
are thrilled to be in Chicago, one of the great sports cities in the world.
The people of Chicago and the surrounding communities embody the true
spirit and passion of running, the same passion we share and that is at the
core of our business. We plan to give Chicago a world class event that the
city, every runner and each of our sponsors is proud to be a part of."
Robert Pozo, executive race director of US Road Sports, commented, "Our
runners and sponsors will begin to see some changes from last year which we
think they will really enjoy. Our host hotel this year is the W Hotel and
the expo will be held at the Navy Pier. We could not be more excited about
working with these two new terrific venues."
