THE ALL NEW HARBORSIDE HOTEL AND MARINA NAMED THE OFFICAL HOTEL
FOR THE 2004 MDI MARATHON
The Harborside Hotel and Marina and the Bar Harbor Club are
enthusiastically preparing to officially host the 2004 MDI Marathon. This
classic marathon, slated for October 17, during peak foliage season, begins
at the village green in historic downtown Bar Harbor. Runners trek through
several island towns, passing geographic and scenic wonders unique to Mount
Desert Island, ending in Southwest Harbor.
The Harborside Hotel and Marina, Bar Harbor's newest luxury resort, offers
marathon discounts to participants and spectators." On behalf of the Mount
Desert Island Marathon, we are very excited to couple efforts with the
spectacular accommodations and facilities of the Harborside Hotel and
Marina", explains Gary Allen, marathon coordinator.
The all new, all exclusive Bar Harbor Club will be the site for a Running
Expo on October 15 and 16. This expo will feature race sponsor
demonstrations, a participant meet and greet, and autograph sessions with
Dick Beardsley, a VIP runner who placed 2nd in the Boston Marathon." We are
so pleased to bring athletics back into a structure that once was the
center of athletics and outdoor activities on MDI", says Allen.
This third annual, all island autumn event attracts runners from across the
world, and the Harborside Hotel is excited to be involved in helping to
make this fall event a tradition in Bar Harbor. "The Harborside staff is
