Pacific Shoreline Marathon Course Near Sell Out
Huntington Beach, CA October 3, 2006 - Organizers of the 11th Annual
Pacific Shoreline Marathon announced the marathon course is close to an
early sell out for the second year in a row. Registration for the marathon,
half marathon, and 5K courses opened last month. All races sold out early
for last year's event, and are expected to sell out earlier this year. The
event is expected to attract over 12,000 runners and 30,000 people to
Huntington Beach over Super Bowl Weekend.
"The secret seems to be out," said Amy Tomchak of Pacific Shoreline. "This
has always been a popular event and last year just pushed it over the top.
The oceanfront course and Surf City atmosphere bring an element of
excitement and fun that runners find very appealing."
Orange County's largest and longest running marathon event presents many
unique offerings to attract runners from 48 states and 22 countries. Last
year, marathon finishers were given Sony Walkman MP3 Players. This year the
prize for finishing the marathon is a pair of trail running shoes from
Salomon. The classic surfboard finisher medallion for all races is probably
the most popular of all the swag. "People come from all over to run for a
surfboard medal," said Race Director, Kathy Kinane of Kinane Events.
Also back for 2007 is the Half Marathon Speed Bonus. The ante this year is
up to $11,000 to commemorate the 11th Annual event and will be divided
among the Half Marathon course record breakers. Last year 27 runners took a
share of the $10,000 bonus pool.
Registration and event information for the February 4th, 2007 Pacific
Shoreline Marathon, Half Marathon and 5K is available at www.psmarathon.com.
