INAUGURAL MARATHON OF THE PALM BEACHES OFFERS VOLUNTEERS
A CHANCE TO “RUN” THE SHOW
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (July 23, 2004) - The inaugural Marathon of the Palm
Beaches is accepting applications for volunteers to get involved in
organizing one of the most exciting events of the year. From assisting the
stars at the CityPlace Celebrity Mile to managing a “Wacky Water Station”
along the course, volunteers will have the opportunity to help out in just
about every part of the race and get behind-the-scenes for the
action-packed weekend.
Race organizers are looking for volunteers to assist in banners and
signage, parking and transportation, medical assistance, food and
beverages, security, communications, massage therapy, sponsor and VIP
programs, entertainment, merchandising, community awareness, guest
services, corporate relay, media information services, the CityPlace
Celebrity Mile, the Sports and Fitness Expo, water stations and
registration coordination.
The inaugural Marathon of the Palm Beaches, presented by Pontiac-GMC, will
be held on Nov.14, 2004 from 6:00 a.m. to noon. The event takes place over
a three-day weekend packed with race-related activities, including the
CityPlace Celebrity Mile hosted by Mayor Lois Frankel on Sat., Nov. 13 and
a two-day sports and fitness expo on Friday and Sat., Nov. 12 - 13. The
event is co-sponsored by WRMF 97.9 fm, ESPN Radio 760 AM, Marriott West
Palm Beach, The Palm Beach Post, Carey O’Donnell PR Group, the City of West
Palm Beach, the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County, Michelob Ultra
(Brown Distributing Company), Jacuzzi Brands, Wachovia Bank, Margaret
Wilesmith Advertising, WPBF Channel 25, Trump Ice, the Palm Beach Princess,
the Port of Palm Beach, the Palm Beach County Convention & Visitor’s
