ARMY TEN-MILER OFFERS INNOVATIVE ONLINE TRANSFER PROGRAM
WASHINGTON, DC – Over 145 online race entry transactions have been complete
since the Army Ten-Miler and its online provider, MarathonGuide.com,
launched its innovative, online entry transfer service in late June.
"Races have been allowing runners to transfer race entries for the past 2-3
years. However, to our knowledge ATM is the first major race to offer the
option to transfer - online," noted Jim Vandak, Race Director. "We are
pleased to add this latest service upgrade to our customers in addition to
the online pre-paid team entry and volunteer registration upgrades we
initiated earlier in the year" added Vandak.
Despite increasing the runner field to 24,000 - the 22nd edition of the
Army's annual 10-mile race sold out in a record 81 days. The transfer
program offers flexibility to registrants who are unable run and options to
individuals who were unable to register for America's largest 10-mile race.
"MarathonGuide.com strives to create tools to simplify the job of
organizing running events. We are one of the few registration providers
that can customize our services to our clients' specific needs. Automating
the registration transfer process is a great example of our success in
using technology to achieve greater service efficiencies for both the
organization and the runners," announced John Elliott, president of
MarthonGuide.com.
The new Army Ten-Miler online transfer process offers a streamlined,
secure, easy way to transfer entries. After successfully completing the
online transaction both parties receive electronic confirmation and the
Army Ten-Miler database is automatically updated with the new runner’s
information. "Last year we joined other races and offered a paper based
transfer process as a convenience to our runners. With nearly 175
transfers we felt it was successful but found it somewhat labor intensive.
This year we are expecting up to 500 transfers thru our new online system,"
reported Vandak.
There is a small processing fee associated with the transaction and
registrants are responsible for finding transfer recipients. The transfer
entry deadline is August 10, 2006 and the Army Ten-Miler Bulletin Board at
www.ArmyTenMiler.com provides a good venue for registrants and hopeful
transfer recipients to connect.
