1st Marathon to Begin Arizona's Largest Training Program
for P.F. Chang’s Rock 'n' Roll Arizona Marathon & ½ Marathon
on Aug. 6; Six Training Locations Available Valleywide
PHOENIX—June 24, 2005—1st Marathon, LLC, a nationwide provider of marathon
training programs, today announced an Aug. 6, 2005, program start-date in
preparation for the third annual P.F. Chang's® Rock 'n' Roll Arizona™
Marathon & ½ Marathon on Jan. 15, 2006.
To accommodate increased interest, six training locations – led by six
coaches – will be offered throughout the Valley. Training sites include the
Marketplace at DC Ranch (Scottsdale), Granada Park (Phoenix), Peoria Sports
Complex and Paseo Park (Peoria/Glendale), Kiwanis Park (Tempe), Freestone
Park and Gene Autry Park (Mesa/Gilbert), and Mountainside Fitness Center
(Chandler/Ocotillo). Group practices begin at 6:30 a.m.
"Rock 'n' Roll Arizona has enjoyed a great amount of success during the
past couple of years, and we’re again expecting a large turnout for this
training program," said Brian Collins, founder of 1st Marathon. "With six
locations across the Valley, people won't have to go far to receive the
benefits of training for a marathon in an encouraging group environment,
led by a staff of professional coaches."
The program is designed for runners or walkers, ranging from the beginner
to recreational athlete. It includes a monthly training schedule with
weekly track workouts, Saturday morning runs and 24-hour, seven-day-a-week
support. Participants also receive a team racing uniform, weekly seminars
and discounts at local retail running/triathlon stores. The 24-week program
is $175 for new participants or $125 for alumni and groups of 10 or more.
