"Fantastic & exciting for the 1st timer &old timer" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 1

This was my first half marathon and it was so exciting for me. I am a former LPGA golf tour player and to be involved in this marathon where the field is open to some of the best and to casual runners, it was just great. The course was a nice challenge. Some hills, both up and down, a great balance. SUPER volunteers!! It was so cold and windy and the volunteers were cheering us on and handing us gatorade, water and GU! They made me smile, which is always a nice relief! I can't say enough about this event. I met some very nice veteran runners and some who were training for the Ironman. This was a 'training run' for some runners for the Boston Marathon. It was great to be among such a variety of people and atheletes. I can't wait to run in another and work my way up to a full 26.2 marathon! Thanks to Running Fit for hosting this event.

"Wonderfully organized, but a tough course in 2002" (about: 2002)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 2

I just ran it yesterday. The race director Tami is outstanding! Organization was beyond reproach. The course was hilly, very well marked and away from traffic. There were crossing guards at the few intersections. 2002 was very tough due to 30° temps and gusting winds of 25 mph at your face from 13-22 miles. But I still PR'd. Overall a difficult but rewarding experience!

"a great race!" (about: 2001)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

This was a fabulous experience from start to finish. Beautifully organized, no gliches. A small, intimate marathon-great for this first-time marathoner. The folks at Running Fit put on a nice family-style pasta party the night before with world famous marathoner Doug Kurtis stopping by each table to chat with us and tell stories of his many marathons. Special gift to first-timers. Beautiful finishing medal! Almost all the spectators were Running Fit people & family of runners, as this marathon was not heavily promoted by local media. The organization was top notch-nothing seemed to be overlooked. The course was a smooth asphalt bike path all along a river northwest of Detroit. No big hills, just a few dips and bends along the way. Straight out and back. I hope they decide to do this again next year!

"Well-organized, pleasant small marathon" (about: 2001)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 3

I ran the first annual Martian Marathon yesterday. The course was very pleasant, with rolling hills, mostly on bike paths through a large park. The race was very well-organized, with aid stations every couple of miles. They never ran out of water, gatorade, bananas, or oranges, even for the 5:30 marathoners. There were only a few, but very enthusiastic, spectators, so don't count on that to get you through.

"Nice, well marked course with some rolling hills" (General Comments)

A very well organized race! Hats off for the race director Tami. The course was somewhat hilly in spots. But overall fun. There was not a lot of fan support. But the ones that were out were cheering and supporting! Also hats off to the volunteers that don't get thanked enough!!!!! The area is nice and the people in the race were very friendly. I would do this race again if I got the chance.

I believe this is the first so no one has run it...but Tami the race director seems nice. Just don't ask her too many questions or your race pak will come back with green goo.
