COURSE: 2 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 2 I heard a lot about this last year and tried it this year (2005). It was OK. The course is fast, but I am not one for quiet streets and bike paths. Spectators, when they were there, were great.

"This is a good one!" (about: 2005)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 3 The second year running has now passed. Last year I ran the 1/2 and had a blast. Decided to run the full this year with hopes of qualifying for Boston; I'd heard it was a good challenge from a number of people and had a bit of everything. The course is not difficult, but it does require some planning. Weather was again nearly perfect with a bit of cloud this year for variety. Needed a few more porta-potties at the start (I didn't need them but lots did - I emailed the RD on this point). The course is beautiful with a gentle downhill stretch (nearly 10k worth) in the early part that needs patience. The rest of the course winds through scenic city streets and the waterfront, the spectators are great, fuel stops are nicely placed and there's a gel station at 23k to get you through the finish. Undulating terrain at the base, some interesting runs through mini-parks and even the marina area footbridges; it's constantly entertaining and surprising. Music was provided both by the race and spectators enroute. Great finishing area with change tents, great food at the end, and even a free phone call! I got my BQ so I may have to skip it next year... but you never know.

"Good Race" (about: 2005)

| 1 Mississauga Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 The course is very fair to runners. A few hills, but mostly flat. Good organization. Thanks to all the support personnel. Nice tech t-shirt - hopefully soon all marathons will provide functional t-shirts. Host hotel did not offer late checkout.

"GREAT, FAST, SCENIC MARATHON" (about: 2004)
4-5 previous marathons
| 1 Mississauga Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Being their first annual marathon, I had no idea what to expect; but we had a bright cloudless day that started off cool and did not warm up too much, thankfully. Although it is advertised as a flat course, there are some hills, especially towards the end! The bystanders were cheerful, the course was scenic and there were water stations at regular intervals! This was my 4th marathon and it was great.

"nice weather, good atmosphere" (about: 2004)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 For a first marathon, the organizers did a good job! I come from Israel and I don't see that here. The only little problem for me was the fact that there were not enough beds for massages after the race. Besides that I enjoyed it and am looking forward to doing it again (if I can afford it...). -Nitai Simha

"Excellent debut for Mississauga" (about: 2004)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Mississauga Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 4 It was a very well organized and carried out marathon. I realize that the number of participants exceeded expectations of the organizers. The course was scenic, almost flat and fast, volunteers did a great job to support runners. I am sure that Mississauga Marathon will become a very important event in both Ontario and Canada.

"WOW! Great course. Terrific fan support!" (about: 2004)
4-5 previous marathons
| 1 Mississauga Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 Great course. They expected 2500 runners and got over 6000. Next year, 10,000 perhaps? Absolutely beautiful course. Lots of running along the water. Fantastic community support for a first marathon. This race will be around for many years to come! Perfect weather. The marathon course was extremely well organized!!! Many international runners showed up...!

"Not bad for first time event" (about: 2004)
1 previous marathon
COURSE: 3 ORGANIZATION: 2 FANS: 2 I am happy that the marathoners seemed to enjoy the event, based on the feedback. Those of us doing the 10km event had a different experience, with shuttle bus chaos (and an unexpected walk to our cars) at the finish. The good news is that these things can easily be worked out for next year. Or even better, why not make the shorter distance event routes a single loop? Point-to-point courses carry more logistic problems.

"Good effort for first-time Mississauga Marathon" (about: 2004)
11-50 previous marathons
| 1 Mississauga Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 3 FANS: 4 The Mississauga Marathon is going to be a winner. For the most part, the course is scenic and much better than the courses in Toronto. A number of first-time marathoners did this course and it's an ideal one for them - no big hills, very few impatient drivers and lots of water stops. As most commenters mentioned - there were a few glitches but I'm sure they'll be worked out. This looks like it may be THE RACE of the spring in coming years! |
